Kanye West has finally released his long-awaited (and heavily-delayed) album, ‘Jesus Is King’.
The project, Kanye’s ninth solo effort, follows on from last year’s warmly-received ‘Ye’; yet this time West has put his Christian faith front-and-centre. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple’s Beats 1, the rapper/producer told the presenter that he’d been living an increasingly Christian-friendly lifestyle, including actively trying to cut back on cursing and even asking unmarried collaborators to abstain from sex while working on the project.
With his coveted Sunday Service taking inspiration here, ‘Jesus Is King’ marks the first of two quasi-religious records for Kanye; the follow-up, ‘Jesus Is Born’ is expected to land on Christmas Day. Excitably, the credit-list is one to take note of too – the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Clipse, Kenny G, Timbaland, Labrinth and Francis and the Lights are among the heavy list of contributors.
