With her acclaimed debut A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons still doing great-guns both here and internally, Little Simz has dropped off the video for one of the project’s most spellbinding cuts, Gratitude.

Premiered by Red Bull, the Gratitude visual sees Simz enlist London-based electronic-quartet The Hics (who also feature on the cut) – filmed in Cape Town, the clip also sees the rapper reunite with Dead Body-director Jeremy Cole.

“[It was an opportunity to] reconnect with a place that’s close to me,” Simz says, regarding the South African shoot, adding “I still have family there, but I’ve honestly not made the effort to reach out. It had to happen in my own time. My mum kept saying ‘You need to go, you need to go’. But I had to do it for myself.” With a lighter tone to the aforementioned Dead Body (though with darker themes to its context), Little Simz also explains the effect the filming had on her “It’s mad because I feel like I’ve grown up a lot in a weekend, because of what I’ve seen,” she says. “I want my friends to go, I want them to be awakened. It’s not enough for me to come back and share my story. I’m so happy I went at this particular moment in my life. I needed to see what I saw, and I needed to meet the people I met.”
