Video premiere: Beyonce ft Jay Z – ‘Drunk In Love’ / ‘XO’

Beyonce has premiered the full official videos to Drunk In Love and XO, the first two singles lifted from her latest self-titled LP.

The album shocked the music world when it was released without any fanfare, or promotion, last Friday morning, and was hidden away from much of the industry under a huge bout of secrecy until its final unveiling.

Drunk In Love, which features iconic rapper Jay Z, and XO are the first two official singles taken from the singer’s new studio effort. Fans can watch the official video of all the other album tracks by purchasing the new album (iTunes link below), which contains a further fifteen full-length videos of the associated track.

Listen to an unreleased London Grammar track, ‘Everywhere You Go’

London Grammar have premiered an unreleased track, Everywhere You Go. The track, an early piece of music by the acclaimed British trio, does away with their current focus on pure trip-hop ambience, instead leaving a simple, almost folk-esque outcome, whilst vocalist Hannah Reid’s sublime pipes are still at the forefront.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, guitarist Dan Rothman said, “The naïvety of the recording is something we all still love…. We never revisited the track, but it still has a place in our hearts, and reminds us of our first steps as London Grammar.”

Paul Epworth remixes U2’s ‘Ordinary Love’

Iconic Adele producer Paul Epworth has remixed U2’s Ordinary Love, taken from the Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom soundtrack, with wonderful outcomes.

The soulful mix adds a further piece of ‘tub-thumping’ to the track; we can’t stop listening to it.

“We think Paul Epworth’s mix is a very soulful, uplifting one and we hope our audience will agree”, says Bono. “Nelson Mandela’s life and times meant more to me than I can ever tell you, I would need a hundred songs to do that… but this complicated little love song to Winnie and South Africa is the one that landed on our lap”.

Rare unreleased The Beatles tracks to be released on iTunes this week

A rare compilation of almost 60 unheard recordings from The Beatles discography is set to be exclusively released on iTunes this week.

The Beatles’ Bootleg Recordings 1963 is reportedly to be released due to stop the expiration of copyright protection; EU law protects songs for 70 years after they are recorded, but only if they get an official release. Otherwise, copyright lasts 50 years. The collection will contain studio outtakes, new songs and alternative versions of Beatles classics.

According to sources, should the remaining members of the band chose not to release the recordings by 31st December, theoretically other labels could release them and profit from the recordings.

The group have historically had a turbulent relationship with iTunes, taking the legendary rock band almost a decade to release their recordings on the platform. Upon release (in November 2010), the released catalogue went on to sell almost 500,000 albums globally within its first week.

TV news: Family Guy’s Brian Griffin brought back to life

After facing a massive online backlash, the producers of hit TV show Family Guy have brought back much-loved character Brian Griffin, the lead character who was killed in a car crash three weeks ago.

The character’s return was confirmed in the airing of a new episode in the US, and saw Stewie Griffin use his time machine to return to the scene of the accident moments before Brian was killed.

Show creator Seth MacFarlane tweeted after the show “I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we’d have to be fucking high.”
