The Weeknd announces new album, ‘Chapter 6’

It’s been two years since The Weeknd released his last full-length record (2016’s ‘Starboy‘), and bar his surprise ‘My Dear Melancholy‘ EP released back in March, rumours of another new album have been fairly thin on the ground.

Until now that is…

During his XHOUSE live show in Toronto last night (6th November), Abel finally teased his long-awaited return – “I wanna let you guys know being in Toronto these past two days I haven’t been this inspired in years” he said. “I got to tell you. I want you guys to be the first to know I’m working on my new album right now. ‘Chapter 6’ coming soon, let’s get it!”

After the show, The Weeknd then tweeted “some chapters are smaller than others. not this next one though…” – could that be a glimpse of a double release (much in the same vein as The 1975’s ‘Music For Cars’ era)?

People Just Do Nothing announce Series 5 premiere date

‘People Just Do Nothing’ is back, and the Kurupt FM lads have shared the first trailer ahead of the new season’s premiere.

Set to hit BBC2 next Monday, 12th November, the BAFTA Award-winning mockumentary returns for what will be its fifth [and final] series, and comes ahead of the recent news of an upcoming US remake (led by BoJack Horseman-writer Mehar Sethi).

Following the recent release of the second installment of her ‘I Used To Know Her’ series, R&B singer/songwriter H.E.R has announced dates for her anticipated U.K. and European tour.

Kicking off in London on Valentine’s Day, the mysterious artist will then travel across the UK and Ireland before making her way throughout Europe.

H.E.R made waves in early 2017 after releasing her breakthrough EP’s ‘H.E.R Volume 1 & 2’ under the veil of anonymity. She has since established herself as one of modern R&B’s most fascinating new voices — an artist with a keen skill for channelling the pain and ecstasy of life through a variety of sonic moods.

On the day the US go to the polls for their midterm elections, Shawn Mendes and Khalid have joined forces to give their recent collaboration ‘Youth’ some hard-hitting visuals.

Featuring discussions around gun violence and racial injustice (among other important factors), the empowering 7-minute visual showcases around the opportunities that the youth of today have at deciding their future. The video also opens with clips of David Hogg, who survived the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting last year, deliver the poignant line – “If you listen real close, you can hear the people in power shaking.”

Newcomer Iyamah has shared her gorgeous new single ‘Seasons’.

Produced by Sam Wills (a frequent collaborator with Tom Misch), the soulful ‘Seasons’ continues a warming trajectory for Brighton-based Iyama, whose previous excepts ‘Silver Over Gold’ and ‘Cryptic Love’ (which took inspiration from her love of Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill) followed a stint on the live circuit after joining forces with My Nu Leng on last year’s ‘Senses’.

The Chemical Brothers to headline All Points East 2019

The Chemical Brothers have been confirmed as the first headlinesr for 2019’s instalment of All Points East.

Set to return to Victoria Park following the success of the inaugural event earlier this summer, The Chemical Brothers will open up APE’s ten-day run by kicking things off on Friday 24th May. They will be joined by the likes of Hot Chip, Little Dragon, Primal Scream and Little Simz.

2018’s All Points East saw headline shows by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Catfish And The Bottlemen, and The National, alongside a three-day music festival bill topped by LCD Soundsystem, The XX and Bjork.
