Drake to co-present 1Xtra’s Rap Show with Tiffany Calver

Drake has been announced as Tiffany Calver’s co-host for this weekend’s The Rap Show on BBC 1Xtra.

Calver, who took over the show from Charlie Sloth earlier this year, has spent the past fortnight opening for Drake during the UK leg of Assassination Vacation tour, which saw him play seven nights at London’s O2 Arena.

“We’ll talk about tour, we’ll play some games, we’ll play some music – it’s going to be a vibe,” said Tiffany, and according to the presenter, Drake’s appearance was all his idea.

The Rap Show kicks off on Saturday 13 April at 9pm GMT. Listen live over on the 1Xtra iPlayer, here.

Watch Childish Gambino and Rihanna’s new ‘Guava Island’ short film

Childish Gambino’s anticipated new short film ‘Guava Island’ has premiered on Amazon ahead of its airing during Coachella’s second-day live-stream broadcast.

The 55-minute film, which stars Donald Glover as Deni, centres around the performer’s vision of bringing Guava islanders together for a music festival, alongside the trials and tribulations around such a feat (think musician struggles, booking issues and exploited workers). Rihanna co-stars as Glover’s girlfriend, Kofi

The movie’s premiere also appears following Childish Gambino’s Coachella headline set, where he delivered a gospel-inspired performance featuring hits spanning ‘This Is America’, ‘3005’ and ‘Redbone’.

Watch ‘Guava Island’ in full below; the film is free for a limited time, and will then become an exclusive for Amazon Prime customers.

Hear a track-by-track preview of Mark Ronson’s ‘Late Night Feelings’

After teasing the project since the start of the year, Mark Ronson has now shared more details of his anticipated new album, ‘Late Night Feelings’.

Set for release on 21st June, the 13-song project will see appearances from a wealth of artists, including Alicia Keys, Yebba, Camila Cabello and King Princess. Last year’s ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart‘, which saw Ronson collaborate with Miley Cyrus, will also feature on the project, alongside the title-track which he shared in full earlier today (listen here).

With the album coming one week prior to Glastonbury 2019, and Miley Cyrus confirmed on the line-up, we wouldn’t be surprised if at least a cameo (or Ronson secret set) fell some part of the launch plan.

The Chemical Brothers share further Glastonbury 2019 details

Following last month’s announcement of their place on this year’s line-up, The Chemical Brothers have shared more details regarding their Glastonbury Festival return later this summer.

Speaking to Dummy ahead of tomorrow’s release of their new album ‘No Geography’ (April 12th), the tech duo confirmed they’d be playing the second day of this year’s Worthy Farm extravaganza. “We’re playing the Saturday night – party night – and it’s just a fantastic place to play for us.” they said, when discussing their Glastonbury affections. “We used to go down with our tent and camp and there’s just one place where everyone used to hang out and definitely have good memories, and I find it exciting checking out the new things, Block9 – there’s always something to discover there. We’re playing in Cornwall the night before so it’ll be nice to arrive once everyone’s calmed down a little bit” they added.

The Chemicals are just one of the many acts announced so far for 2019’s Glastonbury – last month’s initial line-up saw the dance duo added to a list which included the likes of Janet Jackson, Vampire Weekend, Tame Impala and Little Simz. Since then, Lucy Rose and The Mavericks have gone on record to self-confirm their place at the festival.

Michael Eavis spills more clues about Glastonbury 2019 and beyond

After confirming Paul McCartney‘s upcoming appearance at 2020’s 50th anniversary edition of Glastonbury Festival, founder Michael Eavis has given further insight into what to expect for this year’s event, including issues that have forced some of the world’s biggest acts to still not take the helm of the coveted Pyramid Stage.

Speaking to BBC Points West news (10th April), Eavis revealed that Queen won’t be making an appearance at the festival anytime soon. “We had a whole row with Brian May about the badgers – do you remember all that?” he told Clinton Rogers, citing differences in opinion on the matter of culling on farms.

Eavis also confirmed that Fleetwood Mac were still too expensive to fall part of the line-up – “the bottom line is, will they do it for the rate we can afford? Not at the moment, no” he said.

Discussing 2019 plans, Eavis confirmed the return (and the expansion) of its Cineramageddon area which debuted during the 2017 edition of the festival, whilst also confirming new additions, including a mock sea-front pier and a Romeo & Juliet stage, which will see works of Shakespeare performed nightly.
