Audio: NoMBe vs Sonny Alven – ‘California Girls’

Having already hit the blog-heights with various remixes and fresh edits over the past year or so, newcomer Sonny Alven has reworked NoMBE’s California Girls among a woozy beach-ladded bassline to deliver a perfect late-season soundtrack for those still grasping onto the last days of summer.

Audio: SNBRN – ‘Leave The World Behind’

Out now on Ultra Records comes SNBRN’s reunion with Kaleena Zanders for the gorgeous Leave The World Behind, a beautiful reinterpretation of Swedish House Mafia and Deborah Cox’s 2009 classic.

Staying true to the invigorating original, SNBRN has added further playful grooves akin to his own style with this one – this is definitely a track you’d want to be blasting out loud, even if this year’s summer season is now a long-forgotten distant memory.

Audio: Gorgon City – ‘Smile’ (ft Elderbrook)

We’ve already heard the ‘Terrace Dub’ and acoustic versions of Gorgon City’s Smile, however today the duo share the track in its original guise, whilst also giving us the opportunity to fully hear Elderbrook’s vocal prowess in its undistorted form.

This one’s simply beautiful, and whilst all eyes are on the Gorgon boys’ forthcoming record Kingdom, to us Smile seems like a natural progression from their Zak Abel-featuring Unmissable – powerful yet not OTT vocals that are likely to sound as solid in the live space as they would through your headphones.

Audio: Icarus – ‘They Are Not Like You’ (ft Shivum Sharma)

Icarus seem to have a certain knack when it comes to pushing the boundaries of British electronica. The duo have fully set the pace (alongside their Dusky cohorts) at defining excellence after excellence – one only need hear the epic October alongside their early-spring joint Home for proof, however today they up the ante by teaming up with South Londoner Shivum Sharma on They Are Not Like You.

Audio: Mura Masa – ‘Love$ick’ (ft A$AP Rocky)

As he prepares to kick off the UK leg of his fall European tour (including a sold-out show at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire), Mura Masa has announced his all-new single Lovesick.

Unveiled as Annie Mac’s latest ‘Hottest Record’, the track also marks a turning-point for the young Brit – his work has been duly noted across the globe, and Lovesick cements him as being the latest in-demand producer, with A$AP Rocky appearing as the song’s collaborator. In fact, devoted Mura Masa fans will find the song instantly-recognisable; initially a viral hit as Love$ick Fuck back at the turn of last year (and acting as the opener for many of the producer’s live shows), Rocky’s appearance adds some sincere swag onto an already-impeccable instrumental. Additionally, Lovesick (or Love$ick, to give it its correct moniker) has also been confirmed as the first official single from Mura Masa’s long-awaited debut album, set to land next year.

Audio: Vanessa White – ‘Low Key’ (feat. Illa J)

0

If you’d have thought Vanessa White was a ‘run of the mill former girlband-member who’s branching out on her own’, then think again. Instead of going full-wind with a major focus on just throwing anything out there, White’s worked hard to create a solid ground of credibility, and today she pushes her unique focus of gorgeous R&B to the next level with Low Key.

Featuring Illa J (the younger brother of the late J Dilla), the seductive track also gives us the first glimpse of Vanessa’s upcoming second solo EP, the imaginatively-titled Chapter Two, and adds further ethos to “the real me”, as the associated press release mentions. “At the end of the day, it’s about the music and I want to connect with people who love R&B and this sound” White says, and boy does does she firmly deliver!

This one’s definitely for the playlists so grab a listen below:
