Coachella 2017: Beyonce cancels appearance; moves to 2018

Beyonce has cancelled her headline appearance at this year’s Coachella, instead moving to lead the bill in 2018.

In a release by the California-based festival moments ago, Beyonce’s decision comes “following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months”; it’s currently unclear whether she will be replaced.

Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar are still on-track to headline both weekends when Coachella returns on 14/21st April – Radiohead will open on the Friday, Lamar on Sunday 16th/23rd. Beyonce, who is currently pregnant with twins, was due to perform o April 15th and 22nd, a set which would have become the first female act to headline Coachella since Bjork’s performance back in 2007.

Glastonbury 2017: Intimate Somerset Foo Fighters gig confirmed

Tuesday 6pm – that came and went pretty quickly, with ‘that’ expected Foo Fighters / Glastonbury announcement failing to materialise. Then came notification of a reveal of some sort on Friday evening, and now all remains clear. Foo Fighters have confirmed an intimate gig at Frome’s Cheese And Grain venue tomorrow night (24th February), an event which may have seemingly been revealed by hardcore Glastonbury fans piecing two-and-two together following multiple clues over the past week (including the Foo Fighters Passport ‘CAG’ destination).

An invite has now been sent randomly to what’s assumed to be those on the Foo Fighters’ mailing list (presumably cross-referenced with lucky Glastonbury ticket-holders). Emily Eavis coincidentally is a patron of Cheese And Grain. 

It’s widely likely that the Foos will choose the Cheese And Grain show to finally announce their headline set at this summer’s Glastonbury.

Earlier today, Cheese and Grain said in a statement: “We have a strictly private event at the Cheese and Grain this Friday 24th February. There will be no tickets available at all to anyone who has not already been invited. Please do not come to the venue as we are unable to assist with any admission requests and we will be closed to the public all day.”

Emeli Sande beat off stiff competition from NAO and Lianne La Havas to take the Best British Female gong at last night’s BRIT Awards. After bringing her sister onstage to help accept the award, Emeli then hit performance-mode, delivering a roaring rendition of Hurts, the lead single from her second album Long Live The Angels.

Skepta failed to win any BRIT Awards last night, but he did take to the stage for a live performance of Shutdown. Stupidly, ITV censored the performance (even though it was aired past the UK’s 9pm watershed) – with Jonathan Ross and Dermot O’Leary having previously sworn during the evening, it boggled the mind as to why the broadcaster decided it felt fit for Skep to receive the brunt end of the stick.

Wireless 2017: The Weeknd, Chance & Skepta to headline 

From hitting up the main stage over the past couple of years, Skepta has now been promoted to the top spot of this year’s Wireless bill, joining Chance The Rapper and The Weeknd as headliners as the festival returns to Finsbury Park for 2017.

Other names on the Wireless line-up, which runs from 7-9th July, include UK festival exclusives from Nas, Bryson Tiller and Rae Sremmurd, with G-Eazy,  Tory Lanez, Young Thug, Sean Paul and Wiley also among the listing.

Watch: Ed Sheeran and Stormzy perform ‘Shape Of You’ live at BRITs 2017

Ed Sheeran returned to the BRIT Awards stage earlier this evening, one week ahead of the release of his upcoming third studio album Divide.

Teasing a ‘surprise’ during his stint on Radio 1 this morning, Ed opened his set with Castle On The Hill, before welcoming Stormzy onstage to duet on Shape Of You.

Post-BRITs, Ed confirmed that the track will now be released as an official remix on Friday, the same date as Stormzy’s debut album Gangs, Signs and Prayer.

Glastonbury 2017: Foo Fighters announcement moved to Friday?

So, let’s face it, we were all pretty pissed last night when 6pm came and went, and ‘that’ expected Foo Fighters failed to materialise.

Having now hoped that a Glastonbury announcement would follow during this evening’s BRIT Awards, it transpires we might now have to wait a little longer until we hear anything more concrete.

Tweeting moments ago, the Foos linked to Obelisk Airlines, their recently-confirmed fictious account which will ‘fly’ the band throughout their summer festival stint. Upon appearing, we’re met with a ‘select your seat’ page (see below):

Confirm the seat, and you’re then met with a countdown timer to Friday evening (estimated 19:45 GMT). Fingers crossed we’ll hear something then (but seriously, Dave and co, hurry the fuck up, yeah?!)

Glastonbury 2017: London Grammar self-confirm

After previously remaining coy when asked by Mistajam earlier this month, London Grammar have finally self-confirmed their appearance at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

Announcing the news during a live session on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show moments ago, the trio will return to Worthy Farm for the first time since closing the John Peel Stage in 2014. During the announcement, they also expressed desire to return to the same stage for 2017. Listen to the guys confirm their appearance during a Q&A with Jo Whiley here (around the 1:34-mark)
