Alongside smashing things over at Radio 1, Toddla T’s also been spending the last few years honing his successful ‘Toddla T Soundsystem’ gatherings, a night fuelled by eclecticism, particularly when it comes to the more grimier and bass-led side of things. However, in the background, he’s also been placing the finishing touches to his as-yet-untitled new album, and today he shares the wonderful Blackjack 21, a song from the impending project which hears him throw down some soulful grooves courtesy of Andrea Martin (Tracie Spencer, Shift K3Y, Angie Stone et al).

Gorillaz start the onslaught of all-new music by teaming up with Popcaan and D.R.A.M on Saturnz Barz and Andromeda.

Premiered as Mistajam’s joint Radio 1 Hottest Records this evening, both songs appear on Gorillaz recently-announced new album Humanz which drops next month whilst also seeing additional features from the likes of Grace Jones, Danny Brown, De La Soul and Pusha T.

Gorillaz announce release date for new album ‘HUMANZ’

The anticipated new Gorillaz album has now been titled, and given a release date.

Fans have bene all eyes on Damon Albarn’s group’s social accounts today, where details have been teased over the past few hours. Now it seems official info is here – HUMANZ, the band’s fifth studio album, will land on 28th April.

The new record, Gorillaz fifth studio outing, will also feature a wealth of collaborations, including Mavis Staples, Kali Uchis, Danny Brown, Popcaan, Carly Simon, De La Soul and Zebra Katz, among others, and comes preceded by four new singles Saturnz Bars, Andromeda, Ascension and We Got The Power, all available now via Apple Music and Spotify.

Revealed at what seemed like a listening session, it’s still unconfirmed whether the track itself will fall part of Lily’s upcoming fourth studio record, however with the new project set for release in June, it’s likely we can expect more and more snippets to start appearing over the coming months.

Drake’s ‘More Life’ receives physical release date

Drake’s More Life may have conquered the streaming world over the past week, but we can now expect even higher heights with the project now receiving an actual physical release date.

According to a listing on Amazon, the CD version of Drake’s new ‘playlist’ will arrive in the US on 31st March – there’s no word yet whether it’ll be onsale in other markets, mind.

More Life received its premiere on Drake’s OVO Sound radio show on Apple’s Beats 1 last weekend, hitting all major streaming services soon after. The playlist also shone a light amongst some of the UK’s most exciting talents, including Giggs, Jorja Smith and Sampha.

Space Jam soundtrack readied for Record Store Day 2017 vinyl re-release

2017’s Record Store Day is less than a month away now, and whilst announcements of some limited edition pressings are already starting to make their way known, it’s today’s reveal that’s probably got us all far too excited.

Yep, the Space Jam soundtrack is rearing its head again for RSD 2017 to celebrate the movie’s 20th anniversary! Featuring the likes of D’Angelo, Seal and R. Kelly, the original vinyl is actually still widely available online, but you’d have to part ways with a big chunk of cash to own a copy – now that more pressings are to become available for RSD, we’d expect that price to plummet. Be quick though; limited edition means they’re gonna be snapped up rather quickly.

Record Store Day takes place on 22nd April.

Kendrick Lamar teases all-new album

Two years and one week on from the release of his acclaimed third studio album To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar has now all but confirmed a follow-up is now on its way.

A quick glance at Kendrick’s Instagram account shows all images have been deleted bar one freshly-added picture, a stark square with the numerals ‘IV’ (which we’d assume is in reference to Album #4 – TPAB was his third, whilst good kid, m.A.A.d City was his sophomore after Section.80).

No release details as yet, but we’d widely expect new material to land to align with his headline slot at next month’s Coachella in California.

Bestival 2017: New names added

Wiley, Loyle Carner, Twin Atlantic, Fatman Scoop and Nick Mulvey are among the names added to this year’s Bestival following a massive expansion of the already-packed lineup.

Set to be headlined by the already-announced Pet Shop Boys, The xx and A Tribe Called Quest, other notable names for this summer’s closing party include UKG heroes Heartless Crew, Oxide & Neutrino and DJ Luck & MC Neat. Meanwhile Heidi, Monki and Mele have been added to the DJ roster, whilst the House Gospel Choir will be equally unmissable.

Of the new names, founder Rob da Bank says:

“Bestival’s formula is pretty simple – we like you guys having fun, exploring new ideas and listening to amazing bands and DJs in a massive field or forest or both at the same time whilst dressed as a multi-coloured gherkin. If you like the sound of that you’re on board already, but if you need any more persuasion, we are proud to announce some mega new acts for Besti, repping the best in grime with Wiley, AJ Tracey and 67, through indie and rock with Blossoms and Twin Atlantic, all topped off with some good old fashioned rave with DJs from Heidi to Bjarki, Monki to the Ragga Twins and a massive garage takeover.
