Glastonbury 2017: initial line-up released

Following the recent unveilings of headliners Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran, Glastonbury Festival organisers have announced the first wave of acts set to grace Worthy Farm this summer.

Revealed moments ago, the initial teaser adds to previous self-confirmations from the likes of London Grammar, Stormzy and Wiley amongst others, though adds a wealth of welcoming new names, including Katy Perry, Anderson .Paak and The Jacksons. Lorde and HAIM have also been confirmed, highly-likely to preview their all-new material.

Tickets for Glastonbury 2017 sold out in record time (once again) after their release last October, however a resale for unwanted tickets has been confirmed to follow next month. Those who were lucky enough to secure a ticket in the first round also have until Thursday 7th April to pay their final balance.

Organisers of Glastonbury’s sinister The Common have teased an imminent announcement, confirming that the area is once again returning this summer.

Nestled in Glastonbury’s South East corner, The Common’s late-night world completely personifies the true spirit of Glastonbury – with its darkened caves, tribal temples, diverse live music, and even their annual ritual paint and tomato fights, it’ll be interesting to see what surprises will come their way in 2017. One thing’s for sure though, if you’re a bass-head, you won’t be disappointed.

Erykah Badu announces Baduizm 20th Anniversary London show

Erykah Badu has announced a surprise London show to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her landmark debut record Baduizm.

The project, which spawned Badu’s stellar On & On, will be played in full on 6th July at London’s Eventim Apollo (Hammersmith) – tickets are onsale now.

Update: due to overwhelming demand, a second show has now been added for Friday 7th July.

Vanessa White’s second solo EP Chapter Two drops this Friday, and she’s hyped up the release by sharing the brilliant Running Wild.

Produced by Londoner LongLivThePlug, the former member of The Saturdays spoke candidly to NYLON about the impending project, saying:

“Whilst working on the EP I started to really embrace being more honest and open with what I write about in the studio and ’Running Wild’ is a product of that. It’s about playing out a scenario in your mind that might or might not happen but because it explores using your imagination and tapping into your own desires, you can take it as far as you would like to. It’s about taking control of what you want and how you feel.

I’ve grown so much over the past year, both musically and through life experiences, including this solo journey which at times can be a bit of a rollercoaster. I can hear and feel that growth in the music and hope people who listen to it can feel it too and are able to take something away from it for themselves.”

Christina Milian has announced a one-off UK show at London’s Jazz Cafe.

Set to hit the iconic Camden stage on Friday 2nd June, Milian will be supported on the night by So Solid’s MC Harvey, whom she collaborated with on last year’s We Own The Night.

Skepta announces Islington charity gig in aid of Shelter

Skepta has announced a one-off show in support of homelessness charity Shelter.

Set to take place next Tuesday (4th April) at Islington Assembly Hall, the performance has also been teased with features of various “surprise special guests”.

Tickets cost £40 and are only available via a ballot, which opened earlier today and will close at 10am on Thurday 30th March. Those successful will receive an email later that afternoon with a link to purchase tickets – all proceeds will go to Shelter.

“Every penny raised from this very special gig will help Shelter to be there for more people” said Shelter’s Graeme Brown, with Skepta adding “I am a man of the people and I can’t wait to touch down.”

Becky Hill has announced her new single Rude Love ahead of next week’s sold out performance at London’s Scala.

Premiered as Mistajam’s latest Radio 1 ‘Hottest Record’, Rude Love hears Becky reunite with friend MNEK (who plays roles in both writing and production duties) whilst serving as the follow-up to October’s Shift K3Y-produced Warm. The track also coincides with the recent reveal of even more UK shows later this year.

Calvin Harris announces ‘Heatstroke’ ft Pharrell, Young Thug and Ariana Grande

Calvin Harris has dropped another surprise collaboration, this time hooking up with Pharrell Williams, Young Thug and Ariana Grande for Heatstroke.

Expected to land this coming Friday, the track follows on from last month’s Slide, Harris’ first collaboration with Frank Ocean, and a song which also saw a guest role from Migos. Previously Calvin has stated his intention of releasing ten singles throughout 2017; Slide was the first with Heatstroke set to follow.

More as we hear it – expect snippets to be unearthed over the coming days.

Lovebox 2017: Kano & Joe Goddard added; stage splits announced

Lovebox organisers have added Kano and Joe Goddard onto this summer’s line-up whilst also announcing the day-by-day stage splits.

Set to be headlined by the previously announced Frank Ocean and Chase and Status across the 14-15th July weekend, Friday will see Frank on the Main Stage go up against Solange (who’ll be headlining the Noisey Stage). Jamie xx, Mac Miller and Rag’n’Bone Man will provide warm-up support for Ocean, whilst Kaytranada, Ray BLK and Sampha will do the same for Solange too.

Meanwhile, Kano will provide support on the main stage for Chase and Status, alongside DJ EZ, Annie Mac and Anne-Marie.

Glastonbury 2017: Line-up to be announced this week!

We know the headliners, and we’re also well aware of many of the acts already self-confirmed, however Glastonbury Festival organisers have done little to dispell any myths that have been circling the rumour-mill over the past 6 months or so. Fear not though, the line-up is on its way, and it’s set to be revealed this week!

After posting on her official Instagram account regarding the imminent payment window for ticket-holders, Emily Eavis responded to a fan’s question regarding whether the line-up will be coming prior to this weekend, in which the Glastonbury curator confirmed the affirmative!

It’s still not yet known whether Glastonbury will deliver the full line-up or just the first release of 80-100 names (as per previous years), but regardless, official word is always exciting.
