[NEWS x LISTEN] Chris Brown ‘eternally grateful and thankful’ for Rihanna’s forgiveness after assault

0

US R&B artist Chris Brown has taken to laid bare in a frank radio interview with American TV-host Ryan Seacrest.

In the interview, recorded this morning, Brown opened up on a multitude of topics, including his new album and future collaborations. However the facts most people wanted to hear about were also included, namely ‘that’ Rihanna incident as well as an explanation of what exactly happened during that incarceration with the car park valet!

In the ‘On Air With Ryan Seacrest’ interview, the star, when asked by host Seacrest regarding whether he ever expected Rihanna’s forgiveness, admitted “I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident and that time was probably the worst part of my life and being that she has and she’s a wonderful person I’m eternally grateful and thankful.”

The ‘Excuse Me Miss’ singer went on to explain that maybe youth-ignorance played some small part, saying “I think for me that at age 18, 19, I was capable of writing and producing songs, so I’m also capable of making the right choices. Being at that young age, I can tell you I was arrogant and definitely hotheaded. Everybody has a temper, but for me it was not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands.”

Yeah Yeah Yeah’s say RIP Lily Cole in new video for ‘Sacrilege’

Ok, she’s not actually dead, but British model Lily Cole does play the starring role in the video for the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s brilliant new track ‘Sacrilege’.

In this mini-movie, Cole is portrayed as a small-town girl having affairs with multiple local residents. Filmed as a reverse-narratve, the model’s promiscuous ways eventually end up with her getting abducted by some bizarre cult, and, well, you can guess the rest.

Sacrilege is taken from the US band’s forthcoming fourth album ‘Mosquito’, expected to drop on 15th April. Check out the video below:

30 years of the Moonwalk

0

Today, or tonight rather, marks 30 years since Michael Jackson showed the world a dance of such graciousness, it soared him to stratospheric levels.

During the end of his performance of ‘Billie Jean’ at the Motown 25th Anniversary concert, Jackson showed off his new dance. TV broadcaster NBC labelled it ‘The Moonwalk’ and from that moment on, the move became instantly synonymous with the Michael Jackson brand.

Though only lasting around 3 seconds (and in fairness hardly unique as mime artists and tap dancers had been doing it for years since the 1920s), the flair and execution was so stunning that the world became captivated. The day after the broadcast aired on TV, playgrounds everywhere were full of kids trying to imitate (and oft fail) at doing their own version of the move.

Ironically, the song was the only track of the whole concert that had never been released on the Motown label (Jackson had since moved on to CBS Records), and it was thanks to Jackson’s sheer determination against organisers that even allowed him to perform ‘Billie Jean’ in the first place – Berry Gordy wanted him to play a Jackson 5 medley.

In fact, so powerful was the impact of The Moonwalk, that it even overshadowed the rest of the evening. The world was talking about those three seconds; not about a brilliant ‘battle of the bands’ between The Temptations or The Four Tops, not about Diana Ross’s reunion with The Supremes for the first time since 1969, not even about stellar performances by the likes of Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gaye. No, the moment was won by Jackson and that short transition from one side of the dancefloor to the other.

To this day, people still call it the number one piece of music television history of all time, and it holds with good regard. Below, we take a look back at this classic performance as well as some of the best, and worst, attempts at Moonwalking. Rest in peace Michael Jackson.

[NEW MUSIC] Laura Mvula premiers ‘That’s Alright’

0

British artist Laura Mvula has premiered new single ‘That’s Alright’.

Launching with a heavy drum-beat, akin to Mr Scruff vs Paulo Nutini’s ‘Pencil Full of Lead’, this is a fun, loud, bluesy affair, with a chorus that fuses strong brass with Mvula’s even stronger vocals. This is a fantastically experimental track and should do well to raise Laura’s profile even higher than it already is.

‘That’s Alright’ is featured on Mvula’s debut album ‘Sing To The Moon’ – check it out below. A single release date will no-doubt be confirmed soon:
