It’s a good day for funk fans. Not long after a Coachella visitor’s UGC video of Daft Punk extended ‘Get Lucky’ trailer broke, comes a new video from legendary artist Prince. The video, a jamming session between the star and his new band 3rdeyegirl, not only previews a funky direction, but also shows strong hints of his possible new album title ‘Plectrum Electrum’.

With ‘Screwdriver’ being his first work for a few years breaking a couple of months back, it’s obvious a full length LP is on its way. Check out the video below – 2013 is the year to get funky!

US R&B artist has returned to the scene by unleashing her new single ‘Without Me’, featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliott.

It’s a smooth beat-ridden ballad but powerful as; it harks back to what we all used to call the ‘urban scene’ at the turn of the century. Some tight production coupled with some tight vocals from all three artists.

‘Without Me’ is taken from Fantasia’s forthcoming fourth album ‘Side Effects of You’, expected for release before the end of the month.

Basement Jaxx Back 2 The Wild

Basement Jaxx are back!! One of the UK house scene’s godfathers make a welcome return with a batch of brand new material, and their first track is a return to quirky form. Taking cues to their jungle-esque inspired hits (a la Bingo Bango), new track ‘Back 2 The Wild’ is phenomenal.

Produced with a crazy beat utilising tribal horns, the track introduces vocals by Korean ‘Seoul Sisters’ Emma Lee and Baby Chay.

This will definitely be a biggie on the club circuit!

Teen popstar Justin Bieber has released his video to new single ‘All Around The World’ online. The song (which is terrible by the way), features US rapper Ludacris and is taken from the Canadian star’s latest album ‘Believe’, whilst the video takes that age-old formula of ‘we-can’t-be-bothered-to-film-a-video-so-let’s-just-release-a-montage-of-the-tour-we-just-did’.

It’s a pretty poor effort in all fairness; maybe it’s me but I just can’t quite fathom why this guy is famous. I’m more disappointed in Ludacris for bowing to money and having a SECOND track with this guy….

Following on from Episode 2 featuring 4/4 producer Todd Edwards, electronic duo Daft Punk have released the third outtake from their Collaborators series, featuring on legendary Chic producer Nile Rodgers.

Rodgers, known to many as the saviour of funk and the ‘inventor of disco’, has focused his collaboration with the French stars on fusing funk and electro together. Every morsel of ‘The Collaborators’ series is whetting our appetite for the release of Daft Punk’s long-awaited new album ‘Random Access Memories’.

K-pop YouTube star PSY has unveiled the audio of his latest track ‘Gentleman’. The track is the follow up to the hugely successful ‘Gangnam Style’ which attracted attention globally with its combination of bizarre lyrics, ‘infectious’ beat and zany dance-moves; it also entered its way into the history books by being the first video to attract 1billion plays on YouTube. The video also spurred a multitude of different parodies online, with fans filming their own version of the Gangnam Style dance at every opportunity.

Whether ‘Gentleman’ will follow up the same success as ‘Gangman Style’ remains arguably dubious, but hey, with his legions of K-pop fans onboard, who knows what can happen. Take a listen below and let us know your thoughts:

Ed Sheeran gave fans a special treat earlier today, by releasing a remake of his ‘Lego House’ video, made entirely out of the small plastic bricks. The video features a Lego version of both Sheeran and Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, with every single frame made perfectly to fit the original. Even the final end-frame with a psychotic Grint hugging a Sheeran cutout gets a look-in.
