Justin Timberlake took to US presidential White House last night to pay tribute to Memphis soul music. Joined by a plethora of stars, including Ben Harper, Booker T and Queen Latifa, Timberlake let out a rousing rendition of Otis Redding’s classic ‘Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay’.
The mini show was performed to an impressive guestlist, including Barack and Michelle Obama.

James Blake has unveiled his visual masterpiece for new single ‘Overgrown’.
The single is taken from Blake’s new album, also called ‘Overgrown’, his first piece of work since his 2011 debut self-titled effort.

Though released in February, acclaimed rapper J.Cole has joined forces with crooner Miguel by unveiling the fresh video today to their single ‘Power Trip’. The track, taken from Cole’s upcoming sophomore LP ‘Born Sinner’, focuses on the rapper’s ‘longest crush ever’. About the track, he stated
“I’ve always wanted to use my voice to shift culture, even if just a millimeter. This song is one of my strongest to date and I look forward to hearing fans reactions”.

J. Cole featuring Miguel
As revealed last night with a sneak-peek, US rock-chic Avril Lavigne has posted the full video to new single ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’.
The song takes cues from her smash debut ‘Complicated’ whilst some of the eagle-eyed amongst you will notice some similarities with Rihanna’s ‘S&M’. The track is the expected first single from Lavigne’s forthcoming fifth as-yet-untitled album, due later this year.

US R&B artist The Dream has released the title track from his forthcoming LP ‘IV Play’.
The track features a ‘grind-ready’ beat, clearly focused at those bedroom moments. The Dream is rumoured to have worked with an all-star cast for his new album, with the likes of Kelly Rowland, Mary J Blige, Beyonce and Jay-Z all expected to feature.

One-time pop/punk princess Avril Lavigne has announced a teaser lyric video to her new single ‘Here’s To Never Growing Up’. Whilst the teaser video only features 19 seconds of the track, Stagedoor FM has managed to find the full track online (thanks to it already being available on Russia’s iTunes Store).
The song will feature as the first cut from Lavigne’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled fifth album, due for release later this year.

Undeniably one of the world’s finest, yet underrated, rappers Talib Kweli has unveiled new track ‘Come Here’.
The track is taken from Kweli’s forthcoming fifth album ‘Prisoner of Conscious’ (expected to arrive 23rd April) and features some smooth vocals from quickly-becoming-a-superstar Miguel. In commonplace Talib Kweli production, the beat is effective yet hidden in the background enough to let both Kweli and Miguel’s vocals shine through.

Already the most eagerly-awaited dance album of 2013, Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ will include production work from a multitude of award-winners, including Chic’s founder Nile Rodgers and synth-king Giorgio Moroder.
No modern-day female R&B band would ever speak of their influences without mentioning 90s behemoths TLC. Initially launching as a rebellious teen act (with classic ‘Ain’t Too Proud To Beg’), the band changed their focus with the release of undeniably one of the great R&B albums of all time in ‘CrazySexyCool’.
Containing classics including ‘Creep’ and ‘Red Light Special’, ‘CrazySexyCool’ was one of the biggest selling albums of the 90s, and paved the way for future female R&B acts in generations to come. To this day, ‘Creep’ is still seen as a pivotal ‘soundtrack of the summer’, and whilst their original video has become synonymous with their sound, today the band (minus Lisa ‘Left-Eye’ Lopez RIP) unleashed an alternate video that was recorded but never shown.
