Coachella [fake] 2014 line-up released?

**UPDATE** The official line-up has now been confirmed, here.

Coachella-2014-fake

Has Coachella’s 2014 lineup been inadvertently leaked? No of course it hasn’t been, but that hasn’t stopped some eager fan mocking up what could be seen as a fairly official poster detailing his/her ‘hopeful’ acts for next year’s US festival.

With suggested acts including MGMT, Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Duck Sauce, U2, Depeche Mode, Primal Scream and Empire of The Sun, the line-up does seem fairly decent… but of course none of it is real!

Guess we’ll find out the official lineup in the next 8 months or so, but take a look at the poster above to make your judgements!

Mis-teeq rumoured for possible reunion tour and new album

Mis-teeq

For those who recall the ‘golden days’ of R&B and garage in the early 2000s will fondly remember Mis-teeq, the fourpiece urban girlband who burst on the scene with mid-tempo ballad Why in 2000. With original member Zena McNally parting ways soon after release, the three founding members were given a lifeline by garage producer Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont, whose fresh take on Why catapulted the girls into the charts and opened the path to the infamous garage/R&B crossover.

Following the success of Why , the girls familiarised themselves with a multitude of current producers, including Sunship and Blacksmith. Next single All I Want led the way to a string of Top-10s, whilst success followed with One Night Stand and Scandalous until the group acrimoniously split in 2006.

With both Sabrina Washington and Alesha Dixon dipping their toes into solo careers (with Dixon moving into prime-time television presenting), Sue-Elise Nash moved to Sydney, Australia to start a new life in the sun.

Anyhow, moving into 2013, it seems the three girls are ready to regroup again. According to The Sun’s TV Biz column,

An insider said Alesha was up for relaunching her pop career with the girls. The source told TV Biz: “Alesha is definitely keen. The Big Reunion has shown there is still a massive appetite for old bands getting back together.”

And Su-Elise says the trio have already discussed a possible reunion this summer and that they want to record a new album and go on tour.
Speaking on Choice FM, Su-Elise said: “I have been speaking to Alesha and Sabrina. We have been having three-way Skype sessions to discuss just that. We are discussing at the moment the logistics of it and seeing what is out there in terms of new record deals and stuff like that.

“Should the right thing come along, we’re definitely up for doing a reunion tour — and maybe doing another Mis-Teeq album.”

Exciting times, these girls were COOL AS! Fingers crossed the rumours are true!!

Chris Kelly, one half of early-90s ‘kid rap’ group Kris Kross, has died aged 34 in an Atlanta hospital.

Chris, who went under the moniker of ‘Mac Daddy’ with friend Chris Smith in the famous duo, was found to be unresponsive at home and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

After gracing the interwebs with both Fine China earlier last month, and then I Can’t Win yesterday, US artist Chris Brown has treated fans with another new track in the form of the raunchy Give It Away.

It’s unconfirmed at this moment whether Give It Away will be appearing on Brown’s forthcoming LP X, however it’s a strong track from the artist. With all the other tunes we’ve been hearing so far, his latest work seems to be some of his strongest.

Kiss FM branches out with Kisstory’s own radio station

Kiss

Bauer Media UK, owner of Kiss, the largest UK commercial radio station for 15-34 year olds, has today announced it is to launch two new digital radio stations – Kisstory and KissFresh – in a landmark move for the brand.

The two new stations will launch on May 7th across multiple platforms – digital TV, mobile, tablet and desktop – serving audiences with Kiss content in new ways. The new launches further evidence Kiss’ ‘Hear It, See It, Share It’ strategy to push content across platforms of engagement people want and to be ‘always on’ in all the right places.

KissFresh, a brand new on-demand digital station playing non-stop new beats including hip-hop, R&B, EDM, House and garage, is launching via the new Kiss Player accessible via desktop and mobile web on smartphones and tablets, and through the new KissKube iOS app on tablets and mobile. Launched in response to audiences wanting new music, the station demonstrates Bauer and Kiss’ commitment to supporting new artists and reaching new audiences. It will also broadcast hour-long mixes from a range of new DJs and specials from artists such as Daft Punk.

Kisstory, the hugely popular hour-long daily slot on Kiss that reaches 1.3m weekly listeners, will launch as its own station on the Freeview TV platform (channel 714), and will also be available via the new Kiss Player and KissKube iOS app. The station will play non-stop old skool and anthems and is launching in response to positive audience feedback from research into Kisstory listeners.

The new KissKube iOS app launches in mid-May and enables users to listen live to Kiss FM, Kisstory and KissFresh. Other new features allow users to download shows for offline listening; get the latest KISS FM news, videos, competitions and social updates; and share KissKube content with friends via email, Facebook and Twitter. The KissKube app will be available on the Blackberry and Android platforms later in 2013.

Steve Parkinson, MD Bauer Radio London, said: “Kiss was born as a dance radio station at a time when genres were very specific but fast forward to the present day and the evolution of music is so wide that one Kiss station alone cannot deliver everything. It’s the right time to launch KissFresh, Kisstory and a new KissKube app as brilliant new additions to the Kiss brand. We’re giving audiences more of what they want whilst attracting new audiences and commercial partners with what we know are fantastic music and content formats.”

Andy Roberts, Group Programme Director at Kiss, added: “These new launches see Kiss grow through its love for the old and desire for the new. KissFresh will highlight the unknown and known, whilst Kisstory will bring you timeless tunes celebrating memories of good times, the places and people you hung out with and the music you shared with your mates. Kisstory tunes are the DNA that built the Kiss we know today and they’re the tunes Kiss made famous. We really excited to launch these two stand-alone digital stations that allow listeners the opportunity to consume whenever and however they want.”

The two new brand extensions for Kiss come as the brand unveils a new strapline – ‘The Beat of the UK’ – representing energy, heart beat and a strong pulse 24/7.

The new stations also follow the recent announcement that Kiss launched a completely new version of its digital media player – the KISS player – allowing listeners to listen and watch Kiss live online with an all-new mobile optimized media player. Kiss has also recently been added on the Digital One national DAB channel, increasing the station’s national reach to 85% of the UK population, a 21% increase in coverage.
