After being high on the wish-list of attendees for years now, it seems that hopes of Fleetwood Mac or Led Zeppelin playing Glastonbury have been dashed, for 2020 at least.
Confirmed by Emily Eavis during a talk at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the ruling out of both acts have put the likes of Elton John and Paul McCartney as front-runners to headline Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in June.
Answering questions from The Times columnist Hugo Rifkind, Eavis instantly ruled out Fleetwood Mac, whilst also confirming that two acts have been booked to headline so far – the final act is still being worked on. According to Eavis, Led Zeppelin is often a band that appears in the rumour-mill, but they would be unlikely to appear in 2020 either.
Earlier in the week, organisers confirmed the first major booking, with Diana Ross set to make her Glastonbury debut as the 2020 Legend. Tickets for Glastonbury 2020 have now sold out, with a resale expected in the spring.
