It’s been just over 13 years since Missy Elliott last released an album (2005’s ‘The Cookbook), but it seems we won’t have long to wait until new music starts to drip through.
In the early hours, Missy shared a generous preview of a new song with the caption “Let me get yall asses DANCING AGAIN”, closing with ”Cool Off” (could that be the title of the track? – TBC).
When posed by fans as to when we’d likely hear what she’s been cooking up, Missy also revealed that music was indeed ready to go, but it seems her label were keeping songs back “If it was up to me I would drop but @AtlanticRecords said 2019” she said. Though ‘The Cookbook’ was indeed her last full-length album, the rapper has still drip-fed songs over the years, including 2017’s ‘I’m Better‘ – she also reunited with Trina, Lil Kim and Eve for the track’s official remix some months later.
