Earlier in the year, Chaka Khan revealed she had been in the studio with Mark Ronson, teasing fans to “watch out for the new stuff”. Fast-forward a few months, and Ronson has now revealed that their new collaboration is just around the corner.
Announcing via his Instagram moments ago, Ronson revealed that both himself and the soul icon had been working together on the soundtrack to ‘Quincy’, a new film documenting the life and times of Quincy Jones. Of their forthcoming song ‘Keep Reachin’, the producer says “a little while ago, i was asked to work on the end credits song for “Quincy”, the definitive documentary on the life and career of @QuincyJones -directed by @rashidajones and alan hicks. andrew wyatt (@wyattish) and i sat through a rough cut and were so moved by this film and his story, we knew we had really better come up with something seriously worthy of the legacy. so we called on one of the greatest singers of all time Chaka Khan and our good friend @jeffbhasker and we wrote a song called “Keep Reachin”, you can hear a little bit of it at the end of this trailer. and i can’t wait to bring you the whole thing very soon.
