Emily Eavis has teased further clues of Glastonbury 2019, and beyond.
Speaking to Radio 2’s Jo Whiley yesterday (5th July), the Glastonbury-curator spoke about Florence and The Machine’s headline success in 2015, before being pressed by Whiley about next year’s event.
“We’re kinda geared up for the next five years actually, so are deep in planning for next year already…. We’ve done our first draft of the Pyramid Stage line-up, and we’re also drafting in a few Other Stage headliners .We’ve been making progress in the last couple of weeks” she said, before adding – “We have also found our Sunday tea-time legend as well, which is really exciting. I can’t tell you who it is, but it’s a female. She’s not British. But I can’t give you anymore clues otherwise I’ll get into trouble.”
Rumours have already started circulating about who could be front-runner for the slot, often touted as Glastonbury’s ‘fourth unofficial headliner’. Last year, speculation was rife of Madonna finally making an appearance at Worthy Farm, seemingly confirmed a week back by The Sun.
Later on in the same show, Jo Whiley also added further thoughts, playing Madonna’s ‘Cherish’, whilst speaking over the intro “I wonder if she’s doing Glastonbury…. she’s a legend… maybe?”.
Who do you reckon will take up the bill? Whilst all eyes are on Madonna, we have our money firmly hedged against Diana Ross – according to The Sun, Ross was due to perform at 2016’s festival, though was forced to pull out, leaving ELO to fill the space.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2019 will go onsale this coming October, with the festival confirmed to return on 26-30th June.
