Bennie Man had to cancel his appearance at Drake’s OVO Fest last night (30th July) after contracting the Zika virus.
Though having already had to pull out of the show due to Canadian visa complications, Beenie confirmed the Zika news on his Instagram, sharing a photo of himself in hospital.
There is currently no known vaccine for the virus, which is said to spread through mosquitos and cause rashes, fever and more.
Beenie wrote “Jah know…dah week ya deal wid me a way!! No visa fi mi Canada show (I apologize again to my fans in case you haven’t seen the press release) Zika Virus hol’ mi. The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue. Blood test, injections, pills.” Adding, “Wi a hol firm still. Selassie a guide I n I right through so once mi have life me a give thanks.”
Ticketmaster were first to break the news of Beenie Man’s “immigration issues”, though promised a “slew of surprise special guests” in place of the star.
