Bubbling away under Black Butter’s roster is Sam Sure – further evidence of the prolific label’s strive for supporting specialist talent not confined solely to the house/bass movement.
Sam may not have a huge discography to his name (as yet, anyway), but the work he’s delivered to-date so far already outweighs his peers when it comes to striking quality. Via [the both brilliant] Cracks and Hunger, the youngster managed to secure a support slot for Years and Years’ summer stint, and it was not long after that he harked back to the late-90s with his UKG/soul-inspired Me & You (which we’re still constantly spinning).
Some may also recognise Sam’s work away from the speakers – having “got into graffiti” when he was at school, the artist’s work has since been a staple around London (the eager-eyes amongst you may have noticed his talents as the background in Fekky & Skepta’s Way Too Much).
The talent is obviously there, and having the support of such tastemakers as Zane Lowe and Annie Mac isn’t something that comes by that easily, so it’s definitely a sign you need to stay locked to this guy.
Grab a listen to Me & You below; you’ll probably fall for his work the second you lay ears on it!
