After months of rumours, Foo Fighters have been confirmed as the first headliner for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Announced moments ago, the band took to a pre-recorded video at the NME Awards (where they picked up r Best International Band), saying “This is amazing, we love you very much, but we also love all of the fans for voting for our band for this award. We’re very thankful and very happy – sorry we couldn’t make it tonight, but we will be seeing you over the summer at some big outdoor festival that nobody knows we’re playing. It’s Glastonbury! So we’ll see you at Glastonbury – thanks a lot everybody!”
Glastonbury’s official Twitter account also confirmed the news moments after:
Foo Fighters are the second major act to confirm their attendance at Glastonbury Festival 2015, which runs from June 24-28th at the site’s Worthy Farm home in Somerset. Lionel Ritchie has also been confirmed to perform on the coveted Sunday afternoon ‘tea-time’ slot.
