BBC Music announce ‘Sound of 2015’ longlist predictions

BBC Music, one of the most-respected outlets in the global music industry, have announced their predictions for the rising artists expected to hit the big-time during 2015.

The Sound of 2015 longlist, unveiled moments ago, sees a combination of fifteen artists and groups who are likely to be heard frequently over the airwaves over the course of the next 12 months, and follows BBC Music’s hugely accurate 2014 list, which included the likes of Sam Smith, Ella Eyre, Jungle, BANKS, George Ezra and Chloe Howl – three of which whom made up the shortlist of the BRIT Awards Critics Choice 2014. Once again, the alignment with the BRITs Critics Choice and BBC’s Sound of 2015 continue, with George The Poet, James Bay and Years and Years all included in this year’s predictions, whilst Shura and Lapsley, two artists previously heralded by Annie Mac, also make an appearance.

BBC Music’s Sound of 2015 longlist also shows the changing dynamic of the music industry; gone are the big powerhouse dance stars, in favour of musicians whose unique spin in their respective genres have already secured strong fanbases.
