Lionel Ritchie has been confirmed as the first major act for Glastonbury 2015, organizers have confirmed.
Announcing the news earlier this afternoon, the iconic artist will hit the coveted Sunday afternoon ‘teatime’ slot, which saw Dolly Parton perform to one of the biggest crowds ever at this year’s event.

Of the show, Ritchie said, “I’m really excited to play Glastonbury next year as it’s one of the most iconic festivals in the world….It has a phenomenal history and the alumni of artists who have previously played is incredible so I’m honoured to be joining that club. It will be a really special moment for me and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I can now say ‘Yes, I’m playing Glastonbury.”
Back last month, Lionel Ritchie teased a possible Glastonbury slot during his appearance on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man Channel 4 show…. seems like our prayers have been answered!
