Following the release of his new album ART OFFICIAL AGE, (alongside his off-shoot band 3RDEYEGIRL’s PLECTRUMELECTRUM) earlier in the week, Prince has unveiled Way Back Home, the latest cut from his solo record.
As one of the most ‘un-Prince’y’ Prince tracks, Way Back Home is more stripped-back in it’s approach – a lower/mid-tempo ballad, and less of the ‘Prince-funk’ that we’ve grown to becoming used to with his latest bout of material; more on the tempo of last year’s Breakfast Can Wait (minus the funk).
To us, Way Back Home is one of the weakest cuts from ART OFFICIAL AGE, however we’d be inclined to say it’s still a cut above what else there is out there.
