Sam Smith surprised fans this evening (18th July), bringing soul Queen Mary J Blige onstage during his homecoming gig at London’s Somerset House.
Smith, who performed to a sell-out crowd as part of the heritage site’s annual Summer Series events, welcomed Blige during an encore of No.1 hit Stay With Me, with excitable fans reaching for their phones to capture the moment.
Supported by MNEK (who performed a collection of his own upcoming material, alongside Gorgon City-collaboration Ready For Your Love), the Somerset House concert was a poignant moment in Sam Smith’s career; two years ago the young British singer was working waiting at a bar not far from the iconic venue.
