Following last year’s buzz track Emotion, Maverick Sabre is back, teaming up once again with his On & On-collaborator, Joey Bada$$.

Premiered last night by Mistajam, We Don’t Wanna Be, which hears production credits by New Machine, is said to be the ‘hardest’ record from Mav’s forthcoming sophomore album, and delivers inspiration from the James Brown-days of funk, coupled with the “harshness and forwardness” of hip-hop – all encompassed by the soul singer’s teenage heavy metal influence.

Continuing the theme of some of Maverick’s previous material, We Don’t Wanna Be reaches out as an ode to modern-day social commentary, focusing on injustice issues that appear close to the artist’s heart.
