Listen to Ellie Goulding’s ‘Close to Me’, ft Diplo and Swae Lee

After announcing the track earlier in the week, Ellie Goulding has now revealed her new single ‘Close To Me‘.

Featuring Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee, ‘Close To Me’ also hears production from Diplo, and marks Ellie’s first piece of all-new solo music since her last solo record, ‘Delirium’. Earlier this year, the singer also shared her cover of ‘Vincent’, Don McLean’s poignant tribute to Vincent Van Gogh.

In an interview with Radio 1’s Annie Mac (who premiered the song), Goulding tells of her three-year break between releasing ‘Delirium’ in 2015 and her upcoming fourth studio album – “I just wanted to spend time with my family and see my friends a bit more. I moved to New York for a bit…. and I’ve been living a bit”.

The unveiling of the track comes a day on from the reveal of two new songs – ‘Checklist’ and ‘Slow Down’ – both produced by Calvin Harris.

Foals announce two huge summer 2019 festival dates

Currently working on their anticipated fifth studio album, British five-piece Foals have announced their first festival shows of 2019, as they embark on Rock am Ring and Rock im Park next summer.

Set to play across the weekend of 7-9th June, Foals will join previously-announced acts Bastille and The 1975 at the two shows in Germany; meanwhile Slipknot were also recently confirmed to appear too.

The announcement of the double shows have also ramped up rumours of a Glastonbury 2019 appearance; the Oxford band previously played Worthy Farm back in 2016 – a performance which marked their first time playing the Pyramid Stage.

Tyler, The Creator has shared ‘You’re A Mean One, Mr Grinch’, lifted off the soundtrack to the new holiday movie, ‘Dr Seuss’ The Grinch’.

The release follows last month’s teaser which heard a glimpse of the song in the movie’s trailer; Tyler has reportedly created multiple original songs for the new animated movie.

Bugzy Malone made his return to BBC2’s ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ earlier this evening, this time as the lead artist, having previously performed on the show alongside Chase and Status back in 2016.

Taking part in the penultimate episode of the series (alongside the likes of Interpol, Marc Almond and Olivia Chaney), Bugzy also welcomed collaborators JP Cooper and Rag’n’Bone Man for two performances from his recent album ‘B. Inspired’.

Hear The Good, The Bad & The Queen’s new song ‘Merrie Land’

11 years on from the release of their self-titled debut album, Damon Albarn’s supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen have announced their all-new record, ‘Merrie Land’, alongside sharing the project’s lead, and title-track.

Premiered by BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq (and cited by the DJ as his “favourite thing that Damon’s done in a decade”, the track comes ahead of next month’s arrival of the full ‘Merrie Land’ project, which has seen Albarn reunite with The Clash’s Paul Simonon, The Verve’s Simon Tong and Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen (alongside producer Tony Visconti).

Alongside the song, The Good The Bad & The Queen have also announced a stop on BBC2’s ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ next week, whilst also confirming various tour dates across the UK in December.

Following the song’s initial premiere a fortnight back, Scandinavian luminaries Little Dragon have shared the official video for their new song, ‘Lover Chanting’.

Lifted off their upcoming EP of the same name, the visual sees direction from Jack Whiteley (Young Fathers, Spring King) & Joe Wills, with the band featured in a disco-themed RPG alongside a host of suitably off-the-wall cosplay characters.

Hear Brasstracks’ fresh ode to Kendrick Lamar with ‘Good Kid, Brass City’

Earlier this week, Kendrick Lamar’s seminal record ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ celebrated its sixth birthday. A project that still to this day changed the rap landscape (seemingly futureproofing it for years to come), the album’s anniversary subsequently led to NYC duo Brasstracks also declaring their love, sharing their impeccable new tribute to the collection with the aptly-titled, ‘Good Kid, Brass City’.

Released across all platforms, Brasstracks’ Ivan and Conor really work their might here, delivering a seven-song medley of GKMC’s sonics that further harnesses the power of Kendrick’s original masterpiece.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes accompanying clip, Ivan says “So we were on tour a couple weeks ago and we were listening to Kendrick Lamar’s full discography, and the album that still resonates with the most is Good Kid, m.A.A.d city. We had the crazy idea to make an ode to Kendrick Lamar from the songs from the album… Most of the songs on the project have a really healthy relationship between jazz and hip-hop. It was pretty easy for us as jazz musicians turned hip-hop producers, to go into the studio with all of our friends and make some magic happen based on what Kendrick did in 2012…. This was honestly just fun for us. If anybody else really digs it, Kendrick hears it or something crazy, that’s just a bonus. Because this was an amazing project for us to do.”
