Industry news: Spotify share whole catalogue with Last.fm

Music discovery website Last.fm has teamed up with Spotify, the web services have confirmed. Spotify have made their full catalogue available to Last.fm users, the latest cog of ‘refreshment’ for the site who is currently undergoing some big changes – the site recently teamed up with YouTube to provide content for its personal radio service.

As per all new Spotify users who must now have a Facebook account, Last.fm users will now be asked to sign up for a Spotify username, and to synchronise their profiles with their accounts. Spotify’s player will launch across the site with music played through Last.fm

Last.fm’s managing director Simon Moran, said “This collaboration with Spotify brings the together the best qualities of both services, creating a stronger listening and discovery experience for music lovers across the globe.

There is a [short-term] drawback however, the service will only work in markets that Spotify currently operate, however with most major markets pretty much covered, we can’t see this being a major setback for the majority.

Taken from the group’s 2013 comeback album Roulette, the four-piece band have opted for footage of their recent tour to supplement the visual.

Ed Sheeran, Paulo Nutini, OneRepublic and more for Teenage Cancer Trust concerts

Ed Sheeran, Paulo Nutini, Suede, OneRepublic and The Cure have all been confirmed for this March’s annual set of concerts to raise awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Sheeran is set to open the proceedings on 24th March, alongside a recently-confirmed Passenger (announced 7th March), whilst Nutini will take to the stage on the 26th and OneRepublic appear one day later on the 27th. Iconic group The Cure are also set to put on a three-hour greatest hits show on 29th March whilst Suede will close the multi-day event on Sunday 30th March.

New music: Damon Albarn reveals Brian Eno-collaboration, ‘Heavy Seas of Love’

Damon Albarn has revealed a new cut from his Everyday Robots LP, in Heavy Seas of Love.

Set for release in April as an album-track, Heavy Seas of Love, a collaboration with acclaimed artist Brian Eno, has been unveiled as part of a competition in association with the Tribeca Film Festival and Genero TV, where entrants must look to ‘re-imagine storytelling for the digital age by creating interactive music films for Damon Albarn’.

Lady Gaga announces UK dates for ‘ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball’ tour

Lady Gaga has confirmed she is to bring her ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball to the UK as part of her 2014 European tour.

The singer has announce 4 dates throughout October, bringing the tour, which is set to support latest album ARTPOP to Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London.
