Flume gears up for new music return

Flume has announced his long-awaited return for 2019.

Sharing a New Year message on his Instagram, the Australian beatmaker teased fans, saying “Cheers 2018. Next year I’ll be back in your life, I promise.”

Flume’s last studio album, ‘Skin’, was released back in 2016 – the project also saw him receive his first-ever Grammy Award for in the ‘best dance/electronic album’ category. Since then he has released two companion EPs, whilst recently the producer also teased studio work with Baauer and KUČKA.

Rihanna teases new album release date

Rihanna has teased her Navy fanbase with the release-date of her anticipated new album.

When asked on a recent Instagram post – “but when is the album dropping Robyn? Can we have a release date for that?”, RiRi replied with a lowly “2019”.

Rihanna’s previous studio album ‘Anti’ received accolades upon its 2016 release; prior to that, the singer had released new records within a 12-24 month gap. The wait between ‘Anti’ and her forthcoming project marks the longest gap in her career.

Earlier this year, rumours emerged that Rihanna may be working on a double-album – one half featuring ‘chart-friendly songs’, the other comprised ‘moody and experimental tracks’ akin to ‘Anti’. According to Metro, “Rihanna wasn’t happy with how her last album performed – even though she loved how it turned out, she knows she needs a new project full of smash hits to avoid two back-to-back flops…she’s currently recording two albums – one full of chart-friendly songs, and another made up of moody and experimental tracks – and is considering releasing a double disc if she feels the songs won’t mesh well on the same album.”.

Brasstracks have proved the might of the web (and the relevance of Soundcloud) with their new song ‘Snowdaze’.

Featuring newcomer Charles Gaines, the song arrives with a wonderful backstory, which saw the self-proclaimed future-brass duo seeking out Gaines after sifting through historical likes on the streaming platform – we’re not going to do this story justice so have a read of it via Brasstracks’ tweets below. Hear Boston Bun’s new remix of Mark Ronson’s ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’

French producer Boston Bun has jumped on the remix of Mark Ronson’s recent hit, ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’.

Featuring Miley Cyrus, Bun’s new edit follows Dimitri From Paris’ unofficial rework which landed earlier this month.

In a thank-you nod to Ronson for letting him place his mark on the track, the Ed Banger-signed producer cites his interpretation as “one of my remixes I’m the most proud of”.

Cardi B has capped off her impressive year by sharing the official video for her latest single, ‘Money‘.

Teased earlier in the week, the ‘VERY-NSFW’ clip sees Cardi right-and-centre, pole-dancing whilst also at times seen breastfeeding her new-born baby, Kulture.

Earlier this week, the rapper made her Carpool Karaoke debut with James Corden, which saw her conclude with a private performance for pensioners.

Ultra Music Festival announces first-wave 2019 line-up

Organisers of Miami’s Ultra Music Festival have announced the first phase of their 2019 lineup, featuring headline sets from Deadmau5, Galantis and Odesza.

The festival, which sees a new home at the city’s Marine Stadium, runs through 29-31st March, and will also see appearances from The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, Tiësto and Carl Cox. Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Zedd and Zeds Dead are also among the DJs confirmed.

Ultra’s new location will also feature extended sets, which means shows will now conclude at 2am versus their historic midnight close.

BEYmergency: Hear Beyonce’s unreleased song ‘Control’

It was big news for Beyonce fans overnight, which saw two unreleased albums (spanning 20 songs in total) crop up on streaming platforms globally.

Released under the artist name Queen Carter, the two records – ‘Have Your Way’ and ‘Back Up, Rewind’ – consisted of songs that eventually transpired to be unreleased demos. However whilst they have since been removed, an individual single has still remained available.

Hear Sam Smith’s new single ‘Fire On Fire’

Sam Smith has shared his soaring new ballad, ‘Fire On Fire’.

Lifted off the soundtrack to the BBC’s new adaptation of ‘Watership Down’, the song marks Sam’s second contribution to a major movie having previously provided the lead track to James Bond’s ‘Spectre‘ back in 2015.

Watch the ‘Fire On Fire’ video below; ‘Watership Down’ will debut on BBC One at 7pm, Saturday 22 December. It will then be made available internationally on Netflix from 23 December.

Jennifer Lopez has shared the video for her new single ‘Limitless’.

Revealed after a live fan-led Q&A online, the visual marks Lopez’s debut behind the camera as director, with a featured appearance from the star’s daughter Emme. Co-written alongside Sia, ‘Limitless’ is also lifted off the soundtrack to new comedy ‘Second Act’, which also stars J-Lo as lead character Maya. Vanessa Hudgens, Leah Remini and Milo Ventimiglia join Lopez in the cast.
