Parklife organisers have announced their stellar 2019 lineup, which features The Streets’ first UK festival show in over 8 years.
Set to be headlined by Cardi B, Christine & The Queens and Migos, this summer’s edition of Manchester’s biggest outdoor festival will also see the likes of Solange, Khalid, Mark Ronson, Disclosure, Mura Masa, Nas, Jungle and Kaytranada, among others, for what we strongly believe to be one of the best festival line-ups in recent years.
Simply put, there is a LOT to take in here. Loyle Carner leads the pack of a host of exciting breakthrough names too, including Octavian, Slowthai, Yxng Bane and AJ Tracey, whilst the 16 stages will also see appearances from Gilles Peterson, Eric Prydz and Annie Mac.

Theophilus London has teamed up with Tame Impala once again for ‘Whiplash’, the follow-up to last year’s collaboration, ‘Only You‘.
Originally teased last October under their unofficial ‘Theo Impala’ collective, ‘Whiplash’ actually comes from Theophilus’ 2016 album sessions, and remained unreleased until this day.
Janet Jackson’s DJ has added further fuel to fire over recent reports of the singer’s Glastonbury Festival debut later this year.
Originally ‘scooped’ by The Sun yesterday, DJ Aktive, who works closely with Jackson (alongside many other musicians) has seemingly confirmed the star’s slot by sharing a screengrab of the original article on both his Instagram Story and his official Facebook account (see below). **UPDATE: The Sun’s report has also appeared on Aktive’s Facebook Story too**
Yesterday, a source close to The Sun said “Janet is relaunching her career in a major way this year and thought this would be the perfect opportunity…. She has never performed at Glastonbury but she knows what a massive deal it is.”
If confirmed, Jackson will join Stormzy, Janelle Monae and Kylie Mingoue as the first set of big names announced for 2019’s Glastonbury Festival.
Regular fans of the UK house scene should be well-acquainted with Prospa’s debut single, ‘Prayer‘. A mainstay-staple in Annie Mac’s weekly Radio 1 Dance show, the track quickly spiralled up the Shazam charts within its first week, and now the Leeds-based duo have released the track, alongside its follow-up ‘Information’, on iconic UK house label Stress Records.
Now reinvigorated following a thirteen-year hiatus, Stress are pushing Prospa’s latest anthems hard, and it’s no wonder why. Both songs add elements of nostalgia to their sonics – ‘Prayer’ with clever synths that build into an acid 90s rave-inspired ramp, whilst ‘Information’ goes down more an electro-funk vibe courtesy of a relentless thumping bass line. This is simply great house music.
Standon Calling organisers have added a wealth of new names for 2019 following their initial line-up announcement back in November.
Revealed alongside previously-announced Rag’n’Bone Man, 2019’s Standon Calling will also see headline appearances from Nile Rodgers & Chic alongside a welcome return from Wolf Alice, the latter who won 2018’s Mercury Prize for their second studio album ‘Visions Of A Life’.
“We are honoured to be headlining a festival” said the duom, adding “We won’t be doing many shows this year so Standon Calling is gonna be extremely exciting. Even if you don’t like Wolf Alice, you should buy tickets anyway ‘cos Dick and Dom are DJing and – depending on how hard you stare at the poster – Fleetwood Mac are supporting us xxx”. (FYI, Fleetwood Mac aren’t playing – instead LA-based remix outfit Fleetmac Wood will be taking the helm at one of Standon’s many DJ slots.)
Additional names added to this year’s line-up include Echo & The Bunnymen, Idles, Lewis Capaldi and Iris Gold.

Janet Jackson has reportedly “signed up for Glastonbury”, marking her debut appearance at the festival later this summer.
Though unconfirmed by Glastonbury officials, a source close to The Sun (who have an apparent exclusive on the matter), said “Janet is relaunching her career in a major way this year and thought this would be the perfect opportunity…. She has never performed at Glastonbury but she knows what a massive deal it is.” The scoop then details that her likely appearance will be on the Sunday night, though still TBC.
Rumours have been swirling for Janet’s return to the UK since the cancellation of her 2016 ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ dates – she has since re-embarked on the road with her US-focused ‘State Of The World’ shows.

Kendal Calling organisers have announced their full 2019 lineup as the festival looks to celebrate its fourteenth instalment later this summer.
Headlined by Courteeners, Doves, Manic Street Preachers, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Orbital, the Lake District festival will also see appearances from the likes of Gomez, Miles Kane, Years & Years, Mahalia and Maribou State across the 25-28th July weekend.
“We’re thrilled to be heading into our 14th year with no less than five headliners” says Festival Director, Andy Smith – “From anticipated headline slots, to Kendal Calling favourites, legendary sing-along dance anthems & spotlight spectacles, this year’s line-up is one of our most diverse yet, allowing us to bring huge headliners to the fields of Cumbria, as well as exciting female fronted-bands, and shining new stars, amongst the rest of the magic that is sprinkled across the festival site, from art installations, to comedy, cabaret, gourmet food, real ale and so much more. Rosie Lowe has detailed her anticipated second album ‘YU’.
Set for release on 10th May, the record comes preceded by Lowe’s stunning lead single ‘Birdsong’ (which received its world premiere as Annie Mac’s latest BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record).
Produced by Dave Okumu (The Invisible, Grace Jones, Jessie Ware) ‘Birdsong’ also hears a stellar cast of backing vocals, spanning Jamie Woon, Jamie Lidell, Jordan Rakei and Kwabs.
Annie Mac has announced the latest chapter of her AMP series, with a huge London takeover this spring.
Set to run over 4 nights in late-March, AMP London will see the Radio 1 tastemaker bring her love of the music scene to 14 various music venues, with a line-up spanning over 40 musical acts. The shows will also be complemented with two days of talks and discussions at Hackney’s Moth Club.
“AMP LONDON is an accumulation of what we’ve done for years.” says Annie “Prioritising music discovery and supporting bands and artists, AMP LONDON aims to celebrate and consolidate London’s globally renowned music scene, inspire conversations around music, and, ultimately create something that is culturally impactful and invigorating for music lovers of multiple genres.”
Featuring the likes of Mahalia and Sam Fender, the shows will also see appearances from Chip, Koffee, Kojey Radical and Paul Woolford, among others. The final day (30th March) will also see Annie conclude AMP London with shows at Oval Space and the Hackney Empire with a wealth of special guests (still TBA).
