Hear Mabel cover Little Mix and Drake in the Live Lounge

Mabel made her return to Radio 1’s Live Lounge earlier today (13th February), performing her latest single ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ alongside a surprise cover which saw her morph Little Mix’s ‘Touch’ with Drake’s ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’.

Falling part of the broadcaster’s BRITs Week (which will also see appearances from Jorja Smith and Tom Walker), Mabel’s return to the Radio 1 studio comes ahead of her nomination for Best British Breakthrough Act at next week’s award ceremony.

Hear Duke Dumont’s new single ‘Red Light Green Light’ (ft Shaun Ross)

Duke Dumont has shared his new single ‘Red Light Green Light’ ahead of the song’s official release next week (22nd February).

Featuring vocals courtesy of US model Shaun Ross (whose previous credits include visuals from Beyonce and Katy Perry), the frantic new single falls part of the producer’s upcoming sixth instalment of his ‘For Club Play Only’ series, and hears Dumont deliver big-room sounds, tinged with a 70s electro-pop/house groove.

Featuring 6LACK, the track follows on from last month’s huge breakout ‘Dancing With A Stranger’, which saw the former-Fifth Harmony member collaborate with Sam Smith for the first time.

Hear Avril Lavigne connect with Nicki Minaj for ‘Dumb Blonde’

Avril Lavigne has hooked up with Nicki Minaj for their mega new single ‘Dumb Blonde’.

Lifted as the second cut from Lavigne’s upcoming album ‘Head Above Water’ due 15th February, Avril explains the creation of the track with Minaj, saying “we wrote Dumb Blonde as an anthem for anyone who has been stereotyped or talked down to. Keep your confidence up and don’t let anyone tell you how to be. I hope you love it!”

Lovebox 2019 line-up announced

Organisers of London’s annual Lovebox have announced the first wave of acts to appear in the capital as the festival returns for 2019.

Set to be headlined by Chance The Rapper and Solange, the annual event (which runs from 12-13 July at Ealing’s Gunnersbury Park) will also see appearances from the likes of Kaytranada, Loyle Carner, Brockhampton, Solomun and Lizzo. H.E.R and Four Tet are also nestled among the notable names, whilst Annie Mac and David Rodigan will also be returning for another year.

More acts are expected to be announced over the coming months, but in the meantime check the line-up as it stands below. Lovebox 2019 tickets are available now:

Quincy Jones to celebrate Michael Jackson classics with orchestral O2 Arena show

Quincy Jones has announced plans to celebrate the work he created alongside Michael Jackson, with a one-off orchestral concert at London’s O2 Arena.

Set to hit the venue on 23rd June, Jones will curate the show, which will pay tribute to ‘Off The Wall’, ‘Thriller’, and ‘Bad’, alongside Jules Buckley’s Heritage Orchestra. An array of special guests will be announced over the coming months.

Titled ‘Quincy Jones – A Life In Song’, the show will see the producer introduce and host the evening, which will feature never before seen videos of the making of each album, in-between the live performances, picking apart the intricacies of the records.

Alicia Keys has been teasing new music for a while now, and after undertaking a stellar job at hosting this year’s Grammy Awards, the multi-talented artist has finally graced us with the first fruits from her forthcoming record.

Titled ‘Raise A Man’, the emotive track features subtle backing vocals from The Dream, who also worked with Alicia on the co-write too. Keys’ last studio project, 2016’s ‘HERE’ spanned a new era for the singer – ‘Raise A Man’ seems to continue where the previous record left off.

She may not have won any awards, but Janelle Monáe’s Grammy performance certainly puts her up there with one of the greatest artists of a generation.

Taking to the stage for the 61st edition of the Recording Academy’s annual soiree, Monáe performed a medley of songs from her Grammy-nominated record ‘Dirty Computer’ – opening and closing with ‘Make Me Feel’, whilst throwing ‘Pynk’ and ‘Django Jane’ into the mix too.

The excellent performance concluded with Janelle shouting out her fans – “I love you Dirty Computers” before a timely mic-drop. Watch below:

Boomtown announce mammoth 2019 line-up

Organisers of Hampshire’s annual Boomtown Fair have announced their stellar 2019 line-up, as the festival gears up for its eleventh birthday.

Set to be headlined by Lauryn Hill, Prophets of Rage and The Streets, Boomtown’s expansive 2019 roster definitely takes some reading to take in the scale of the event. Running across the 7-11th August weekend, additional names include the likes of Groove Armada, Slaves, Little Simz, Patrick Topping, Kate Tempest, SlowThai and 90s throwback, Salt-n-Pepa. Israeli electronic duo Infected Mushroom will also cement their UK return with what’s dubbed as a ‘retro live set’.
