As he inches closer to his forthcoming LP ‘Hyperion’, Gesaffelstein drops another heavyweight collaboration, this time with Pharrell.
‘Blast Off’, which follows last year’s The Weeknd tie-up ‘Lost In The Fire‘, lays down Gesaffelstein’s signature slick, pulsing bassline at its foundation, with a funky rhythm to keep the motion going while Pharrell weighs in with a soulful 80s-inspired top line.

Following a week of teasers, Solange Knowles has shared her fourth studio album ‘When I Get Home’.
Featuring contributions from Cassie, Tyler The Creator, The-Dream and Metro Boomin (among others), the new 20-track project comes hot on the heels of the performer’s upcoming shows at Coachella and Lovebox, and sees both writing and production credits from Solange herself.

Loyle Carner has enlisted Jorja Smith for his new single, ‘Loose Ends’.
Expected to appear on the Londoner’s upcoming new studio album (the follow-up to Loyle’s 2017 debut ‘Yesterday’s Gone’), the track follows January’s ‘You Don’t Know‘, a collaboration with Rebel Kleff and Kiko Bun. In October, Carner also partnered with Jordan Rakei for ‘Ottolenghi‘.

Following earlier reports of a speculative tracklisting, further details of Solange’s upcoming fourth studio album have started to appear online.
Titled ‘When I Get Home’, the record will reportedly drop tonight (1st March), with streaming links now starting to appear for all platforms.

Solange fans were whipped into a frenzy this week, with the singer hinting anticipated new music is imminent.
On Tuesday, the star revealed a new personalised page on the BlackPlanet social network, which featured new photos, GIFs and a bunch of text. The following day, she shared a 1-minute visual, and today (Thursday 28th February), Knowles has now released another cryptic image, this time with a speculative tracklisting.
Solange will be playing multiple festivals across the year, seemingly confirming she’ll be back on the promo circuit. She’ll be playing Primavera and Coachella, and also headline London’s Lovebox Festival in July.

Glastonbury organisers have announced plans to ban the sale of plastic bottles when the festival returns to Somerset later this year.
Whilst ticketholders will not be barred from bringing plastics on-site, organisers have confirmed plans to encourage the use of refillable water bottles by increasing the number of free Water Aid stands. Artist areas (from dressing rooms to catering and production) will not be exempt either.
In a statement, festival curator Emily Eavis said “It’s paramount for our planet that we all reduce our plastic consumption, and I’m thrilled that, together, we’ll be able to prevent over a million single-use plastic bottles from being used at this year’s festival…. I really hope that everyone – from ticket-holder to headliner – will leave Worthy Farm this year knowing that even small, everyday changes can make a real difference. It’s now or never.”
In place of the plastic, water and soft drinks will now be available to purchase in recyclable cans from food and drink traders on-site.
Glastonbury 2017 saw over 1.3million plastic bottles discarded across Worthy Farm, and the latest announcement follows on from previous years which has seen the site ban plastic cutlery and plates from food traders, in place for compostable materials.
Glastonbury Festival runs from 26-30th June.
Little Mix, The 1975 and Miley Cyrus have been announced as headliners for 2019’s return of Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Set to take place at Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park across the 25/26th May, this year’s Big Weekend will also feature performances from Zara Larsson, Mabel and Khalid.
Little Mix previously performed at the annual event in 2017, when Big Weekend took place in Hull; 2019 will mark Miley’s first R1BW foray.

Hotly-tipped Leeds duo Prospa have shared the video for their acid flavoured dancefloor smash. ‘Prayer’.
Shot in Ukraine and directed by Lisbon-born João Retort (who’s previously helmed clips for the likes of Novelist, Loyle Carner, Boiler Room and Adidas), the documentary style video brings the evocative rave nostalgia of the track crashing into life. Speaking to The FADER, the pair (20 year-old Harvey Blumler and Gosha Smith) elaborate, “It tells a raw story of youth, euphoria and love.”
Upon its release in late 2018, ‘Prayer’ has picked up spins from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac (Hottest Record in the World), MistaJam, Monki, Danny Howard, BBC Introducing and more, with the track rapidly becoming a club staple.
With a packed summer festival schedule including Lovebox, Parklife and Boardmasters following an appearance at Printworks on 29th March alongside DJ Koze, George FitzGerald and DJ Seinfeld for Annie Mac Presents, it’s no wonder Mixmag proclaimed, “big things lie ahead of UK producers Prospa.”

Jordan Rakei has shared his new single ‘Mind’s Eye’.
Released alongside an announcement of a set of intimate European & US shows, the track marks the soul-singer’s first taste of new music since last year’s ‘Wildfire‘, and follows a string of live and studio collaborations with his friends Tom Misch, Alfa Mist and Barney Artist (aka the Are We Live collective); Loyle Carner (Jordan wrote and produced recent single ‘Ottolenghi’); Richard Spaven (Flying Lotus, Jose James, Mala); and Rosie Lowe.
Switching up from the highly personal and intimate portrait he painted with “Wallflower”, Jordan has taken a step back to study humanity as a whole. Overtly inspired by dystopian visions of our future – notably Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror, The Handmaid’s Tale and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return – combined with Jordan’s inner contemplation of humanity and our existence, ‘Mind’s Eye’ describes a future world in which wearable tech has been superseded by tech implanted in the human body. “The subject of the song is experiencing a technological malfunction which is flooding his mind’s eye with projections of chaos causing him to question his reality,” explains Jordan.
The 26 year old moved from Brisbane to London in 2015, signed to Ninja Tune and released his second LP “Wallflower” in 2017. The record – a mature and sophisticated modern soul opus documenting his life-changing move and adjustment to London-living – underlined his innate and expansive talents as a songwriter, producer and performer, opened up a new global audience and earned plaudits from the likes of Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin (Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Flying Lotus) and Bonobo who invited him as main support at his landmark Alexandra Palace show and additionally as a special guest onstage during his set.
Having performed at iconic venues and festivals including Glastonbury, Field Day, Pitchfork Avant-Garde, SXSW, Shepherd’s Bush Empire and two sold-out nights at Ronnie Scott’s, Jordan will play a handful of intimate European and US headline shows in May and June including London’s EartH.

Erykah Badu has announced a one-off show at London’s O2 Arena later this summer.
Set to hit the iconic venue on 9th June, Badu will be joined by Jhene Aiko and marks the former’s first UK appearance since last year’s headline slot at Lovebox Festival.
