Glastonbury curator Emily Eavis has teased more surprises for this summer’s event, ahead of the anticipated full line-up announcement.

Following last week’s first wave reveal (which saw the likes of Lorde, Solange, The xx, HAIM and Justice added to the roster), Emily has shared further glimpses about what to expect this June.

“There are quite a lot of names to come, but at the moment we’re just enjoying this window,” Emily said in an interview with NME, adding “There’s so much to take in on this poster and it takes a while to absorb it all. We’ve been working on it since last year. In fact Barry Gibb was our first booking gave after he came off stage last year. Ever since then, we’ve been adding bands….. When I say there’s double the amount of bands than usual, it’s because we’re not having a festival next year, so we’re trying to get as many bands in as we can. There’s quite a few a surprises this year as well, on the Park Stage and the South East Corner. There are some great things lined up.”

On when fans can expect the next wave of names, Emily confirmed that we should know in a month (or so) – “The line-ups are going to be with you for all stages, so we’ll be doing that in the next couple of weeks. There are some big names still to come. We’ve released the majority of the main acts, but there are more to come but there are also some surprises. I’m not going to big it up too much.”.

In other Glastonbury news, the BBC have also confirmed they have signed a deal with the event to continue broadcasting for a further five years until 2022. This will include the festival’s 50th anniversary year in 2020, and 2022, the BBC’s 100th anniversary year.

Emily Eavis said “We have worked closely with a fantastic team at the BBC since 1997, it has become an integral part of what we do at Glastonbury. Together we have created something really special – two decades of historic live broadcast from many of the biggest names in contemporary music. We are all very excited to look ahead to another five Glastonburys alongside the much treasured BBC.”

Glastonbury ticket-holders now have until this Friday (7th April) to pay their ticket balance prior to the anticipated resale date expected later this year.
