Hear Cedric Gervais’ groove-led remix of MJ Cole’s ‘Waking Up’

0

UKG legend MJ Cole caused a storm at the beginning of 2019 when he teamed up with the vocal talents of Freya Ridings, delivering an immersive and truly on-point piece of electronic-edged, piano-lead, ethereal sound on ‘Waking Up’.

Showing no sign of slowing down, the track now gets a re-fresh, courtesy of Cedric Gervais. In this update, the house legend injects his own sonical take into the mix, moving things in a derived 4/4 direction. Punchy undertows prop up the rolling piano riffs of the original and Freya’s addictive toplines. Stuttered builds fall away to seriously sun-drenched grooves that will cover clubland over the coming weeks. Certified heater!

Glastonbury 2019: The Charlatans to replace Snow Patrol

0

Snow Patrol have been forced to cancel a host of upcoming shows following surgeon advice for guitarist Johnny McDaid.

In a statement, the band said “We are sorry to have to announce the cancellation of more shows. Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny McDaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery.”

Alongside various European dates throughout the summer, the cancellation also covers this weekend’s Glastonbury Festival – the band were due to perform on the Other Stage on Friday 28th June at 6.30pm. Glastonbury organisers have confirmed that The Charlatans will take the spot from Snow Patrol.

The statement continues – “As for the upcoming shows: to replace Johnny it would take at least two people and with Nathan still out with nerve damage (he is slowly on the mend) he is also still unable to play guitar we feel it’s just not appropriate to continue with shows at this stage. It isn’t just their guitars and pianos that would be missed. Their backing vocals are essential to our sound and their energy and spirits are colossal and are irreplaceable forces. We are sure you all understand that at this point the most important thing is to take time to let our brothers heal and recover so we need to cancel the forthcoming shows we are billed to play in Europe this summer up to Latitude on the 20th of July to give them both time to recover. As the doctors have said Nathan needs another 4 weeks recovery we are sure that we will be able to do the acoustic tour of Asia, Australia and New Zealand in August as Nathan will very likely be healed in time. We will of course keep you informed of both Nathan’s and Johnny’s progress. We have hardly ever cancelled shows in 25 years together and we don’t do it lightly. We hope you all understand. We are sorry to miss the shows but health is the most important thing. All our love and healing to our brothers Johnny and Nathan.”

Fleetwood Mac give strongest Glastonbury hints yet

0

Fleetwood Mac-frontman Mick Fleetwood has given the strongest hint yet that the band could finally be gracing Glastonbury Festival.

Consistently appearing on the annual rumour-mill, 2019 looked certain to be the year the iconic band would hit up the Pyramid Stage, having announced a set of shows at London’s Wembley Stadium that aligned with Glastonbury’s return. However appointments from Stormzy, The Cure and The Killers seemingly ruled any kind of appearance from the group.

BUT, it now looks like 2020 could indeed be on the cards, with Fleetwood Mac now looking likely to head up Glastonbury’s main stage on its fiftieth anniversary.

Midway during the band’s performance on the opening night of their Wembley stint (16th June), Mick hinted the six-piece (Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mike Campbell and Neil Finn) still “had a big field to play”. Various Twitter accounts are also adding fuel to fire that the hints led to Worthy Farm – “a rained out festival in England next year” was appearently mentioned.

Glastonbury curator Emily Eavis has been vocal in the past about how much she would love the band to headline, however has cited high booking fees and unaligned diaries being the stumbling blocks over the years.

Glastonbury 2019 returns later this month, running 26-30th June.
