Glastonbury 2017: The Common reveals The Temple makeover

Organisers of The Common have given fans a sneak peek as what to expect when Glastonbury Festival opens its doors for 2017 next week.

Taking to their official Facebook page earlier this evening, attendees were treated to a glimpse of the makeover that has led to a brand new Temple area.

Now doubled in size for 2017, and a wider central entrance too, The Temple has always been a highlight for Glastonbury-goers, however often thwarted by the huge queues to get in. No chance this year though as organisers are hoping to eradicate any issues for the summer with an even bigger venue. It’s just as well too – with the likes of Gorgon City, Dusky, Patrick Topping and Dimension among the line-up, the bigger space will be massively welcomed!

Run The Jewels announce 2017 UK & Europe tour dates

Run The Jewels have extended their ‘Run The World’ tour with some newly-added UK and European shows for later this year.

Set to be joined by Danny Brown on support, the shows will see El-P and Killer Mike hit Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham, alongside a one-off performance at London’s O2 Brixton Academy.

To date, the ‘Run The World’ tour has seen RTJ hit over 30 stops in North America, including four sold-out shows at NYC’s Terminal 5. From a UK POV, they’ve already performed at Field Day and Parklife, whilst next week they will make their Worthy Farm debut as they warm up for Katy Perry on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage.

Plan B announces Shakespeare’s Globe London show

Plan B has announced plans for a one-off show at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.

Set to hit the iconic heritage stage on 24th July, the performance comes ahead of the impending release of his anticipated new album, rumoured to land later this year – a project led by his recent single In The Name Of Man.

Tickets go onsale this coming Friday, 16th June, with a presale one day earlier. Head over to Plan B’s website now to sign up for pre-release info.

Glastonbury 2017: Full poster revealed, including new additions

Glastonbury organisers have announced three new additions to this summer’s festival, alongside the reveal of the annual line-up poster.

After being heavily-rumoured over the past few months, Emily Eavis and co have confirmed Liam Gallagher will be hitting up The Other Stage on Saturday 24th June, filling in the ‘TBA’ slot at 5.45pm.

Additional new names on the poster also include Johnny Depp who will be guest of honour at Glastonbury’s new Cineramageddon. Depp will grace Worthy Farm on the evening of Thursday 22nd June where he will screen his personal choice of films and sit down in discussion with Cineramageddon curator Julien Temple.

You’ve probably read most of the reviews; heck you may have even been watching the live stream if you weren’t lucky enough to nab a ticket, but it quickly became clear from Gorillaz’s inaugural Demon Dayz Festival that crowds will never tire from hearing the vast discography of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s fictional group.

Rolling through the hits as they headlined their own event at Margate’s Dreamland last night, Albarn and co brought along pretty much every single one of their past collaborators – from Shaun Ryder to De La Soul all the way through from their recent hook-ups of Popcaan and Vince Staples, last night’s show encompassed all the intrigue, magic and, well, weirdly-unpredictable elements that make Gorillaz….Gorillaz.

Undoubtedly though, it was Kano and Little Simz’s starring appearance on Clint Eastwood that took things to greater-climbs, and in our eyes, showed why both these artists could clearly reign as two of the UK’s greatest MCs. Frank Ocean returned to the stage for his first live show in three years last night, bringing elements of his varying discography to Denmark’s NorthSide Festival.

From Blond’s ‘Solo’ to recent tracks ‘Biking’ and ‘Chanel’, Frank also gave some Endless cuts a look-in too, including ‘Commes Des Garcons’ and ‘In Here Somewhere’.

Ocean recently canceled a whole host of summer festival shows including Primavera, Hangout, and Sasquatch, with the artist citing “production delays” as the cause. He will, however, be performing at this weekend’s Parklife Festival in Manchester, alongside headlining July’s Lovebox in London.

Watch: Ibeyi – ‘Away Away’

Ibeyi have returned with Away Away, delivering a surprise new visual for the track that gives us a preview of their upcoming second album (which lands later this year).

Of the song, Ibeyi’ Naomi tells Fader (who premiered the track) that the cut “reflects on a time when [Ibeyi’s] Lisa was gazing out her window and thinking about the permanent flow of creation and destruction”, with Lisa adding “We are witnesses of the world’s craziness (which is sonically symbolized by the sirens in the track) and we wonder if the promises of better days will be kept. The chorus of ‘Away Away’ represents a burst of positive energy, us taking a conscious step towards movement and action because only the people can make good on that promise. The song culminates with a Yoruba chant for the Orisha Aggayu, a ferryman known for providing strength. Aggayu in nature ignites a violent eruption of volcanos, however, with the intention that the lava ultimately refertilizes the soil to create new life.”

Australian duo Peking Duk unite with AlunaGeorge’s Aluna Francis, sharing the official video for their new single Fake Magic.

Shot in LA, Aluna talks of the track saying “We spoke about the idea of a woman coming into a man’s life and showing him the real magic in this world, an alternative world that is not weighed down by fake highs and material disappointment. I loved this idea, I’ve been that girl occasionally so the lyrics came from a real place.”

Lorde has shared the full studio recording of Sober as she gears up for next week’s release of her anticipated new album Melodrama.

Originally teased back in April, the song’s official unveiling also coincides with the recent announcement of Lorde’s impending UK tour, which will see her hit the likes of Manchester, London and Glasgow later this year.
