Watch Foo Fighters and Rick Astley perform ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ at Reading Festival

After appearing together during their surprise show at London’s Moth Club last week, the Foo Fighters were reunited with Rick Astley earlier tonight, bringing the 80s icon to the Reading Festival stage as the band’s special guest.

Performing a rock rendition of Astley’s classic ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, frontman Dave Grohl initially opened the performance with fans expecting him to play a Nirvana song. “Some of you may know that Reading Festival holds a very special place [in my heart]” he said. “This is the first big festival I ever played in my life when I was 22-years-old, in 1991. It was a long time ago… “I thought tonight we’ll do something special for you that pays tribute to a song that brings us way back in time. It’s maybe the reason why I’m here tonight headlining main stage. If you know it you can bounce around to it.”

Wolf Alice confirmed for 2020’s Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis has confirmed the first major name for 2020’s lineup, revealing Wolf Alice will return to Worthy Farm for the festival’s 50th anniversary.

Speaking to the Bristol Post earlier today, Eavis, who now oversees every Glastonbury edition alongside daughter Emily, said “[Wolf Alice] were really keen to come and play the party for us again. We love hosting bands who want to play it and they’re just so fantastic live…. They’ll definitely be on next year’s Glastonbury lineup for sure.”

Next month, Wolf Alice will headline 2019’s Pilton Party – the annual event created by Eavis to thank locals for their patience during the Glastonbury upheaval. They will also be joined by ‘special guests’ who will be revealed on the day. Teasing the extra name on the line-up, Michael revealed “They’re a big, big band who are reforming just for this. They’ve got loads of hit records and they’re going to be absolutely great, I can’t wait to see them.”

More Glastonbury news as it happens.

Hear Missy Elliott’s surprise ‘Iconology’ EP

0

Having spent the past decade jumping on other artists’ songs (Lizzo, Kelly Rowland, Ariana Grande to name but a few), alongside the odd release of her own material, it’s been 14 years since Missy Elliott last graced us a full-length project.

2005’s ‘The Cookbook’ saw Missy at her finest, with features from Pharrell, Ciara and long-time collaborator Timbaland, but today, after what seems like a far-overdue hiatus, Elliott is back with her latest work.

Surprising fans (and the music world) last Thursday, Missy shared her 5-tracker ‘Iconology’ EP. In announcing the project, which hears production from herself alongside Timbaland and Wili Hendrix, Elliott proclaimed “Let’s #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance”.
