KDA teams up with Too Many Zoos for ‘Warrior’

It’s been almost six months since we’ve heard from KDA, but the London-based producer is finally back with another dancefloor-saviour, this time bringing along New York buskers Too Many Zooz for ‘Warrior’.

The familiar-sounding track which initially received its premiere via SubSoul, has now worked its way up to national levels courtesy as Annie Mac’s recent Radio 1 Hottest Record. It’s safe to say with that accolade, you know you’re in safe hands.

Expect to be hearing this one from Ibiza all the way through to carnival this summer. Bump it loud below:

Watch Janelle Monáe’s epic ‘Dirty Computer’ Emotion Picture

Janelle Monáe has celebrated the release of her third studio album ‘Dirty Computer’ with her epic new accompanying movie of the same name.

Subbed the ‘Dirty Computer (Emotion Picture)’, the 45-minute feature film is set as a companion piece for the album itself, and finds Janelle portraying character Jane 57821, and living in a totalitarian future where people are known not by name but by numbers and computers. Infinity War’s Tessa Thompson also appears throughout the movie too.

Hear HONNE and Tom Misch collaborate for ‘Me & You’

HONNE have announced details of their second album ‘Love Me / Love Me Not’.

Set for release on 24th August, the duo have also shared a preview of what’s from the record by sharing two new songs – ‘I Just Wanna Go Back’, and the Tom Misch-featuring ‘Me & You’.

ABBA announce reformation; is Glastonbury looming?

ABBA have announced new music is on the horizon for the first time in over three decades.

Revealing the news on their official Instagram account, the group wrote “The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence… We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and that we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience! It resulted in two new songs and one of them ‘I Still Have Fair In You’ will be performed by our digital selves in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC aimed for broadcasting in December.”

Bar a one-off special appearance in 2016, the Swedish group have not performed for a live audience since 1986… and this got us thinking. Obviously we love a Glastonbury rumour over here, but with the four-piece so integral in the pop sphere since their career kicked off in the 1970s, could a Glasto Legends Slot appearance be looming? ABBA are one of the few groups never to have graced the Pyramid Stage, and though initially just a ‘virtual tour’ we wouldn’t be surprised if a phone-call from the Eavis crew isn’t too far behind.

Hear Janelle Monáe’s important new album ‘Dirty Computer’

Back when Janelle Monáe released her last album, 2013’s ‘The Electric Lady’, the world was different, and seemingly more-accepting. Though a concept album at heart, it still delved on themes that are as important today as they were back then (sexuality, female empowerment and more), and whilst more of a throwback to pre-1960 sonics as they were back then, the fact that Monáe could shift her focus far-removed to its predecessor The ArchAndroid were as much a testament to her abilities as a songwriter as they were to someone who knew what needed to be done to invigorate cultural shifts.

Fast-track now to 2018, and Monae has followed up ‘The Electric Lady’ by revisiting the future dystopia of her debut’s world. It’s tough to think that the impeccable ‘Dirty Computer’ is only Monáe’s third foray into full-length albums, but it seems she can make her mark with every single output.

This is a record you truly need to listen to – as much to appreciate the sounds that exist as it is to understand her journey and her story. If there was ever someone who stood up for what they rightfully believed, it’s Janelle. With ‘Dirty Computer’, like her previous albums, she’s the heroine many of us need to look up to.

Listen: Alex Adair returns with ‘I Will’

Alex Adair has revealed his first new song of 2018, teaming up with Australian newcomer Eves Karydas for ‘I Will’.

“This is definitely a more experimental track for me” says the young producer. “Most would associate myself with more a pop orientated sound and this is a track where I’m showcasing a different side to my production. The song is inspired by acts like Four Tet and Caribou; electronic music that incorporates club elements with lush synth sounds. It’s a track that continually builds in energy and is laced with emotion”.

Following the announcement of their impending return last week, The Internet have now released their new single ‘Roll (Burbank Funk)’.

Landing as the first track from the group since 2015’s ‘Ego Death’ project, the track follows a string of solo projects from the likes of Syd and Steve Lacy – ‘Roll (Burbank Funk)’ marks the first joint from the follow-up to ‘Ego Death’ which is set to land at some point this year.
