Confirmed: Paul McCartney to headline Glastonbury 2020

Following this morning’s initial teaser from the former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney has been confirmed as the first headliner for 2020’s Glastonbury Festival.

Set to hit the Pyramid Stage on Saturday 27th June, McCartney will make his appearance on the main-stage for the first time since 2004.

Of the news, Glastonbury’s Emily Eavis said “So excited.. Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary @ Glastonbury Festival”.

Paul McCartney has shared a cryptic image on his official Twitter account, seemingly teasing his heavily-rumoured appearance at 2020’s Glastonbury Festival.

An appearance that’d mark 16 years since his last headline slot, the former Beatle shared the news by posting an image of Philip Glass, Emma Stone and the late Chuck Berry – Glass-Stone-Berry.

The McCartney rumour-mill started earlier this year after Michael Eavis shared a hint during a chat with the BBC

TLC announce 2020 ‘CrazySexyCool’ anniversary UK show

TLC have announced plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal ‘CrazySexyCool’ with a one-off London show next summer.

The performance, which will see them play Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 29th June, will mark the band’s UK return for the first time since their 2017 KOKO gig. Cited as a celebration of the record which propelled them to become the best-selling female band in US history, the show will also come 18 years since Lisa ‘Left-Eye’ Lopes’ tragic passing.

Speaking to BBC Music, TLC’s Chilli also teased TLC’s overdue debut at Glastonbury, which kicks off four days ahead of their London date – “Is that what you heard? I heard that too” she says, adding “I’m hoping. Fingers crossed, toes crossed, legs crossed. Everything that it’s possible to cross, it’s crossed.”

The MOBO Awards reveal return with imminent announcement

After its 2018 hiatus, organisers of the MOBO Awards have revealed the ceremony’s return with an announcement expected to land imminently.

In a press release sent to Academy members, it was confirmed that the next phase of the MOBO book will see the Awards return “bigger and stronger”, with the first announcement and reveal set to take place on 12th November, promising this year’s MOBOs will see “a ground-breaking new chapter for the music community and culture”.

We Are FSTVL announce first-wave 2020 acts

Organisers of Upminster’s annual We Are FSTVL have announced their first-wave line-up for 2020.

Set to return to Damyn’s Hall Aerodrome across the May Bank Holiday weekend (23-24th), next year’s We Are FSTVL will see welcome returns for the likes of Carl Cox, Gorgon City, CamelPhat and Armand Van Helden. Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers also fall part of the recently-announced names.

As per previous years, 2020’s We Are FSTVL line-up will be released in regular phases over the coming months – historically the festival has become the shining star of dance music, with its roster reading as a who’s-who of the club scene. Expect more names to be added as we roll into 2020.

Lifted from her upcoming studio album ‘MAGDALENE’, which drops this Friday (8th November), ‘sad day’ marks the fourth song from the project, and follows previous tracks ‘home with you’, ‘holy terrain’, and April’s lead excerpt, ‘cellophane‘.

Frank Ocean has shared his surprise new single ‘In My Room’.

The song, which arrived with no prior fanfare, is the second surprise release from Frank in a matter of weeks – last month he released ‘DHL‘ after debuting the track on his blondedRADIO show on Apple’s Beats 1.

Jeff Goldblum on Glastonbury: “If you invite me, I’d love to come back”

Jeff Goldblum has teased his return to Glastonbury Festival following his packed West Holts appearance at 2019’s event.

Appearing on BBC One’s The One Show earlier this evening (1st November), Glastonbury curator Emily Eavis was talking about 2020’s impending 50th anniversary. Upon mentioning Diana Ross‘s appointment as next year’s Legend, Goldblum’s face lit up, before saying “I’ll be there, I wanna see that”. Eavis then asked “You’ll come back, won’t you Jeff?”, with the actor/jazz musician replying “If you invite me, I’d love to come back – I had the best time ever”.

So there we have it – probably the first major pre-booking announcement Glastonbury have had.

Dua Lipa is back with her new single, ‘Don’t Start Now’.

Serving up a divine slice of pumping disco, the song, which comes complete with an action-ready video (below) is an adrenalin-fuelled, feel-good dancefloor anthem, circling positivity and self-empowerment.

“I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another” explains the Londoner – “Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with”.

Sam Smith has shared a surprise cover of Donna Summer’s disco anthem, ‘I Feel Love’.

Reworked for US retailer Target’s Christmas campaign, Smith’s new rendition hears the singer reunite with Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence, and comes ahead of new albums from both acts over the next year.
