Drake announces mammoth ‘Scorpion’ tracklisting

Drake has revealed the tracklist for his forthcoming album ‘Scorpion’ ahead of its release on 29th June.

Featuring 25 songs, the project has now been confirmed as a double-album, a concept initially rumoured following the appearance of a set of billboards in Toronto. The album includes Drake’s previous singles ‘I’m Upset’ alongside ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Nice For What’.

‘Scorpion’ marks Drake’s fifth full-length studio album, and follows on from 2016’s ‘Views’. Last year the Canadian rapper also shared his ‘More Life’ playlist which featured further new tracks, including the Jorja Smith-featuring ‘Get It Together’.

MNEK and Hailee Steinfeld have dropped the official video for their uplifting ‘Colour’.

Hooking up once again with duo Bradley & Pablo (who also directed MNEK’s ‘Tongue‘ visual earlier in the year), the track comes ahead of the in-demand young producer’s debut album, expected to land at some point over the next year.

“You’re gonna be so fucking sick of me” Charli XCX wrote last month, proclaiming that 2018 would finally be the year where she unveils a barrage of new music…. and she wasn’t wrong either.

No less having collaborated with Rita Ora on ‘Girls’ a few weeks back, the singer has now shared the new video for her excellent ‘5 In The Morning’. If any song has shown an artist’s evolution, this one is it – it’s a succulent slice of future-laced pop/soul, and if this acts as a preview for a new album, then, well, we just can’t fucking wait.

Joe Jackson dies, aged 89

Joseph Jackson, the head of the Jackson dynasty has passed away from terminal cancer at the age of 89.

Passing two days from the anniversary of the death of Michael (who passed away in 2009), Joe had been surrounded at his bedside by wife Katherine alongside some of his children and grandchildren.

As the patriarch of the iconic family, Jackson had been seen by most as the instigator of driving his children to worldwide fame in the 1960s, creating icons of both Michael and notsoonafter, Janet. He was also instrumental in the success of The Jackson 5 in the 1960s, spearheading them into the global pop elite. Though still married, Joe and Katherine did not live together in later-life following a strained (and often reported, hostile) relationship over the years.

Filmed with footage from their debut live performance at New York’s Governors Ball at the turn of the month, the clip comes ahead of their forthcoming UK show at Bestival in August. The duo are also set to be working on more new music, including a forthcoming collaboration with Dua Lipa.

Watch Gorillaz debut ‘The Now Now’ live for Boiler Room

Ahead of the release of their new project later this week, Gorillaz have teamed up with Boiler Room to deliver the first audio/visual performance of their forthcoming album ‘The Now Now’.

Set to kick off at 8.30pm GMT tonight (24th June), the show will feature songs from the record including recent releases ‘Humility‘, ‘Lake Zurich‘ and last week’s ‘Hollywood‘. Currently on the road across Europe with ‘The Now Now Tour’, Gorillaz will also return back to the UK for their only homegrown festival show of the summer, headlining Hampshire’s Boomtown on 11th August.

Hear Kölsch & Tiga collaborate for ‘HAL’

Kölsch has teamed up with Tiga for their new collaborative effort ‘HAL’, released via Kölsch’s new label IPSO.

Made up of a thunderous build, and rasping chord patterns, ‘HAL’ precedes the pair’s B2B set at OFFSonar this summer, with Kölsch also scheduled to play a primetime headline set at Belgium’s Tomorrowland.

“After being friends for years, myself and Kolsch decided to take the next logical step in our relationship and make a few tracks together.” said Tiga, with Kölsch adding “HAL is both a reference to the Computer in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 a Space Odyssey, and short for Hallelujah. … The track sits firmly between Rave and Religion, and has been a staple in my sets, since we made it.”
