Kaytranada shares new music, and remixes Sade and A Tribe Called Quest

It’s time to get excited if you’re a fan of Kaytranada, as he slowly starts returning to the forefront by sharing more new music, plus some flips of classic iconic songs too.

Quietly updating his Soundcloud yesterday, Kay dropped fresh remixes of Sade’s 1992 hit ‘Kiss Of Life’ alongside A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Midnight’. Not only that, but he also shared two original demos too, titled only by the dates they were made (’03 19′ and ’04 27′).

With other appearances starting to seep through the cracks (check out his work with Lauren Faith on ‘Just A Little‘), fingers crossed it’s only a matter of time until we hear brand new music from the talented producer.

Swedish House Mafia confirm 2019 reunion tour

Following their return at Ultra Music Festival earlier this year, Steve Angello has teased further details of Swedish House Mafia’s full-scale reunion for 2019.

Appearing after a five-year hiatus in March, Angello confirmed that the EDM supergroup are “absolutely” coming back next year, including teasing details of a potential tour. “It’s happening, obviously….Not all the details are set, but we will be back in 2019.”

Additionally, Angello has also revealed that new music is also on the horizon. Speaking to Sweden’s Dagens Nyheter, the producer said “Yes, absolutely, Swedish House Mafia is back. Now during summer everyone is traveling a lot, but we’ve entered the studio. I can’t really say much more, but we’ve decided that: ‘Here we go.’”

Back in July, Oliver Heldens also added fuel to fire, letting slip that a tour was impending – “So, Swedish House Mafia have now officially reformed, and are announcing a world tour in 2019”.

Meanwhile, odds on SHM headlining Glastonbury 2019 were recently slashed to 7/2 by bookmakers Betway.

Stormzy announces scholarship to send black students to Cambridge University

Stormzy continues to be the one hero many of us need, this time revealing he has teamed up with the University of Cambridge to announce his new Stormzy Scholarship.

Set to fund two students this year, and a further two in 2019, the Stormzy Scholarship will pay for tuition fees plus also provide budget for a maintenance grant for up to four years. The scholarship aims to encourage the admission of more black students to top universities – a Financial Times report found that some colleges in Cambridge did not enrol any black students between 2012 and 2016.

“We’re a minority, the playing ground isn’t level for us” said Stormzy after revealing the news this morning – “it’s vital that all potential students are given the same opportunity.”

The application deadline for this year’s scholarship is 30th August; to be eligible, applicants must be of black ethnicity and have an offer to study at Cambridge; 2019 applicants will need to apply to Cambridge by 15th October.

Just earlier this week, the one-half of Rae Sremmurd released his ‘Hopeless Romantic‘ video alongside Wiz, and today he joins forces with Camila Cabello on the remix to her single ‘Real Friends’.

Ariana Grande has become the latest in the long line-up of stars to feature on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke.

Revealed earlier today on US TV programme The Late Late Show, the clip sees Grande and Corden perform the former’s classics including new songs ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ and ‘God Is A Woman’ off her forthcoming album ‘Sweetener’.

Cardi B to open 2018 MTV VMAs

Just one month on from giving birth to baby Kulture, Cardi B has announced her return to the stage, revealing that she’ll be opening next week’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Announced via the official VMA Twitter account, MTV shed light that Cardi will kick off proceedings, which will also include performances from the likes of Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Travis Scott. Jennifer Lopez will also perform in celebration of the icon winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for 2018.

It’s fair to say that after spending time with the girls on their recent ‘Sister Sister Sister’ tour, elements of HAIM’s sonics were bound to rub off on young Maggie Rogers, so it was no surprise that last month’s ‘Give A Little‘ shared more than an a dash of inspiration from the trio.

Set to feature on Maggie’s as-yet-untitled debut album, ‘Give A Little’ was co-written and co-produced alongside famed Adele-collaborator Greg Kurstin, and today the US singer shares the joint’s equally-as-uplifting new video.
