Hear Stefflon Don’s intense new ‘Secure’ mixtape

Having already teased various excerpts over the past week, Stefflon Don’s anticipated ‘Secure’ mixtape has finally arrived.

Featuring appearances from Future, Tiggs Da Author, Sean Paul and DJ Khaled, the 16-track record is more a solid album versus the mixtape it’s been described as; Steff’s vocals are as menacing and free-flowing as you’d expect, with the features adding an extra dose of sparkle for international audiences.

Fresh from the success of their huge single ‘First Time’, which has so far amassed almost 30 million Spotify streams, house duo M-22 are back with their new single ‘How Does It Feel’.

Full of vibrant sun-laced tropical production, the track continues on with the sonics that made M-22 so appealing in the first place – having already remixed some of the biggest names in music (Avicii, Sigala, Rudimental and more), plus their debut single ‘Good To Be Loved’ pipped by Pete Tong as his ‘Essential New Tune’, expect to be hearing a lot more from Manchester-based Matt James, and German native Frank Sanders as the year develops.

Now based out of London, German producer Fabich has been synonymous with his intertwinement of classic funk, soul and electronica over the years (no less check out his stunning Josh Barry-collab ‘Hold On’ from last year); similarly his remix of Monaé’s recent ‘Dirty Computer’ joint is equally as inspired, and perfectly sits well throughout an evening in clubland, whether for the early-starters or the post-3am’ers.

Calvin Harris has shared the follow-up to April’s ‘One Kiss‘, teaming up with Sam Smith for ‘Promises’.

Announced earlier this week, ‘Promises’ does an about-turn from Calvin’s Dua Lipa-featuring predecessor; more ‘stripped-back’ than ‘frantic club/pop anthem’, and whilst it may appear a slow-burner on first listen, stick with it – in true Calvin Harris style, once it connects with you, there’s no putting it down.

Announced earlier this week, the song marks Janet’s first piece of new material since 2015’s ‘Unbreakable’; currently the star is touring the US with her State Of The World shows, rumoured to be hitting Europe midway through next year.

Watch Christine and the Queens’ video for her new single ‘5 dollars’

It’s been a long wait for new music from Christine and The Queens.

Having set the world alight with her remarkable debut ‘Chaleur humaine’ back in 2014, the French singer has now confirmed the release of her anticipated follow-up, titled ‘Chris’.

Set for release in September, two songs have so far been revealed, and today she brings the project’s third with ‘5 dollars’.

“The song is so tender, so disheveled. It’s dealing with some kind of love — the kind you can buy. It’s a literal interpretation. A note for a shag — how surprisingly soothing this can be!” the singer tells Vogue Magazine. “The power ratio runs clear, like water in your hands; it becomes a pure gesture of love, of ultimate consent. The closet is segmented into two racks — suits and bondage. From there, I wouldn’t advise to conclude anything too drastic, since you’re glaring yourself, in an obscene fashion — voyeur. The hustler is also someone who allows you to project onto him or her, before disappearing to leave you alone with your phantasmes.”

MNEK announces debut album ‘Language’; shares new song ‘Crazy World’

Having been single-handedly responsible for crafting some of the biggest pop songs over the past five years, MNEK has finally announced details of his long-awaited debut album.

Set to follow in a long-line of EPs which showcased the producer’s versatility, ‘Language’, which drops on 7th September, will feature thirteen new songs, plus February’s ‘Tongue‘. His latest single, ‘Colour’ and last year’s ‘Paradise’ will also appear.

Hear SG Lewis’ new single ‘Hurting’, ft AlunaGeorge

SG Lewis has teamed up with Aluna Francis from AlunaGeorge for ‘Hurting’, confirmed as the first single from his forthcoming ‘Dark’ EP.

Premiered by Phil Taggart on his BBC Radio 1 show, ‘Hurting’ continues on from the club-night themes of ‘Dusk’, the first part of his ‘Dusk, Dark Dawn’ trilogy, which the producer shared earlier this year. Expect more tracks from ‘Dark’ to follow over the coming weeks.

Aretha Franklin dies, aged 76

Aretha Franklin dies, aged 76

Legendary singer Aretha Franklin has passed away; she was 76.

Surrounded by friends and family whilst in hospice care at her home, the iconic performer had been battling numerous health problems over the years; last summer she was forced to cancel a multitude of concerts on doctor’s orders. Her last public performance was in November 2017 on behalf of the Elton John Aids Foundation. According to her representative, Gwendolyn Quinn, the cause of Frankin’s death was advanced pancreatic cancer.

In March of this year, Franklin announced the cancellation of a scheduled appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival following advice from her doctor. Speaking to Rolling Stone, her manager said at the time “Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months…. She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to.”

Toward the end of 2015, the soul queen brought then-US President Barack Obama to tears with her powerful rendition of Carole King’s ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ – watch below:
