Glastonbury’s The Common tease new area for 2020

0

Organiser’s of Glastonbury’s The Common have teased a new tweak to celebrate the festival’s upcoming 50th anniversary.

Nestled within the self-dubbed ‘naughty corner’ of Worthy Farm, The Common’s official page on the Glastonbury website has been updated to give hints of a revamp to Samula, the area’s latest attraction that made its debut in 2019.

Joining the staple Rum Shack and The Temple, the mind-blowing Samula was launched last year with a host of sound-systems alongside an insane takeover courtesy of Hospitality Records.

Whilst the updates are still under-wraps, organisers have said “Prepare to be submerged in sound and born again… More details coming soon! Samula is going to another level!”.

Now with almost four months to go, we can expect to start seeing some of Glastonbury’s key areas start to tease their own forthcoming announcements, and we can’t bloody wait!

Sorry for all those hopefuls, but it seems Led Zeppelin and Daft Punk have both been officially ruled out for 2020’s Glastonbury Festival.

Speaking to NME backstage at last night’s NME Awards, Glastonbury curator Emily Eavis confirmed there will be many surprises in store for this summer’s 50th edition, whilst also extinguishing the flames of rumours of both acts. “It’s not Led Zeppelin and it’s not Daft Punk” Eavis revealed when questioned about some of the big acts set to grace the festival in June.

However, Emily continued there would be “some really big, significant surprises” that would be revealed on the days within the festival themselves.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Lana Del Rey would be returning to the Pyramid Stage for the first time since 2014.

Check the full interview with Emily below:

Lana Del Rey has become the latest artist confirmed to perform at 2020’s Glastonbury Festival.

Revealed by Emily Eavis moments ago, the singer will return to Glastonbury’s Pyramid for the first time since her 2014 afternoon slot on the same stage.

The announcement comes a day after Del Rey won ‘Best Album In The World’ at 2020’s NME Awards for last year’s ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’. Eavis additionally took home the Godlike Genius Award at the ceremony.

When posed about an appearance at Worthy Farm as part of her summer schedule, the singer replied “I think it needs to be, right?!”.

Following a quick chuckle, Whiley closed the segment, saying “Ok, maybe I’ll see you in a field somewhere in Glastonbury in June”, to which Keys replied “Yes, yes”.

Hear Calvin Harris’ new Love Regenerator single, ‘Hypnagogic (I Can’t Wait)’

0

Calvin Harris has announced his brand new project Love Regenerator, sharing two new songs ‘Hypnagogic (I Can’t Wait)’ and ‘CP-1′.

Taking inspiration straight from 90s breakbeat/rave culture, Love Regenerator marks a complete 180 to Harris’ electronic dance roots, and focuses more on a ‘happy hardcore’ experimental direction.

Of the new music, the producer says “‘Hypnagogic (I Can’t Wait)’ and ‘CP-1’ are the first tracks from my new project Love Regenerator. I wanted to rediscover the way I originally began producing music 22 years ago before I ever thought about how it might be perceived by outside forces. Just pure fun and experimentation with what sounded good to me. The records are inspired by early rave, breaks, techno and house, the music I was obsessed with growing up. In fact, I’ve done everything I can to make them sound like they’ve come from a 1991 time capsule. Every synth and sound used is from that time period.”

The 1975 have shared ‘Me & You Together Song’, the latest excerpt from their forthcoming album, ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’.

Released alongside a world exclusive live performance on BBC’s Radio 1 (where it earned the accolade of Annie Mac’s latest ‘Hottest Record’), ‘Me & You Together Song’ follows on from last year’s ‘Frail State of Mind’; the track will join the previously-released ‘People’ on the band’s new record when it finally lands in the Spring.

Detailing the delayed release date of ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ (which recently shifted from February to April 24th), The 1975’s Matty Healy said “It takes, like, three months or something to physically make a record on vinyl so it comes out on the 24th of April. Sorry if that’s annoying or whatever… for the sake of a couple of months, in the grand scheme of things, [the delay] doesn’t really make any difference”.
