Lily Allen confirms new album for 2014

Lily Allen has confirmed that she is currently writing tracks for a new studio album, expected to be released in the first quarter of 2014.

The album, the follow-up to 2009’s hugely successful It’s Not Me, It’s You, is set for a March release, with Allen (now Lily Cooper) telling The Sunday People newspaper “I’m really enjoying writing it and hope it will be ready for March. It is very different to what I’ve done before.”.

Of the topics in the content, the singer continued to say “I wouldn’t say it’s been easy. It hasn’t been hard…. It’s just been different because my pool of inspiration is so different to what it was nine or 10 years ago.”

The remix remains true to Welsh’s stunning vocals, making sure they are continually present in the foreground, whilst a trippy two-step/electro beat adds that ‘extra level’ to the track, making it a clear contender as one of the ambient dancefloor tracks this summer.

Jay-Z has unveiled the tracklisting from his forthcoming studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail by means of an online/offline scavenger hunt in New York. Fans were led to black binders throughout the streets of Brooklyn and encouraged to share the imagery online.

Oh wow oh wow oh wow! Legendary rapper Nas has turned his hand to remix J.Cole’s Let Nas Down track, and it’s even more brilliant than the amazing original.

The original track features on Cole’s new album Born Sinner, and was the result of Nas being unimpressed with the lead single to Cole’s debut album Cole World (Nas called it too ‘radio-friendly’ vs conforming to rap).

Canadian rapper Drake has debuted 3 new tracks online, and celebrated by giving them away for free. Amongst the free music is lead single The Motion, which sees Drake in down-tempo mode, but still inkeeping with the brilliance of his previous rap work. The track features SBTRKT frontman Sampha and is expected to be the only ‘free’ song that will appear on Drake’s forthcoming album Nothing Was The Same, due for release in September.

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s duet of I Need Your Love has been given the acoustic makeover, by Miss Goulding herself, and she sounds as enchanting and as beautiful as ever.

The original, taken from Harris’ third album 18 Months, was released earlier this year, earning both Goulding and Harris a coveted Top 5 position in the UK charts; the acoustic however turns everything on its head in a wondrous way.

We’re huge fans of Ellie Goulding here over at Stagedoor, every release seems more and more breathtaking than the last, so massive kudos for this one El!

One Direction unveil ‘This Is Us’ trailer

British pop band One Direction have unveiled the first official trailer to their upcoming movie This Is Us.

The motion picture, set for worldwide release on 30th August, documents the band’s rise to fame as well as going behind-the-scenes during their recent global tour.

‘Independence Day’ sequel confirmed for 2015 release

The much-rumoured sequel to smash 1996 movie Independence Day has been confirmed, with a tentative release date of July 3rd 2015.

The original disaster movie, which starred Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, was, at the time, the second-highest grossing movie of all time (amassing over $800m in worldwide box offices). Whilst Pullman is tipped to reprise his role as President Whitmore, it is yet to be confirmed whether Smith and Goldblum have signed up to the script.

The confirmation of the sequel follows director Roland Emmerich’s announcement earlier this year that he intends to make the movies into a trilogy.

More news as we get it, regardless to say we’re excited!!

Ne-Yo confirms Beyonce album collaboration

US R&B star Ne-Yo has confirmed he is currently working with Beyonce on her forthcoming studio album. The long-awaited follow-up to 2011’s 4 is still yet to receive a title as well as official release date, however track from the album have still circulated this year, including Grown Woman and I Be On.

Speaking of the collaboration, Ne-Yo said “I’m still putting stuff together for Beyoncé’s album. They’re still trying to figure out what they want that to be, which I’m not mad at. Beyoncé’s the kind of artist where you’re not gonna see it till it’s right. And her fans – they love her so they’ll be patient.”
