New music: Lady Gaga’s ‘Applause’ leaks early

Applause, the eagerly-anticipated new single by eccentric US pop star Lady Gaga has leaked online, weeks before its official airing.

The single, taken from the stars upcoming third album ARTPOP, has been under close lock and key since its announcement several weeks back. Applause was originally meant to get its first official play at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on August 25th; no doubt there will be some unhappy campers in the Gaga camp right now!

Emeli Sande, Bastille, Simple Minds & Soul II Soul to play at Virgin Records 40th Birthday concerts

In celebration of their 40th birthday milestone, Virgin Records have confirmed a batch of shows at London’s KOKO venue.

Confirmed so far, Soul II Soul, Emeli Sande, Simple Minds & Bastille, will be taking the stage from 4th-13th November, with a slew of support acts in tow. Naughty Boy and Professor Green are confirmed to be joining Sande on 4th November at the Camden venue, with more to be announced closer to the time.

Dates are as follows:

Mon November 4th 2013 – Emeli Sande – LONDON KOKO
Tue November 5th 2013 – Bastille – LONDON KOKO
Thu November 7th 2013 – Simple Minds – LONDON KOKO
Mon November 11th 2013 – Heaven 17 – LONDON KOKO
Wed November 13th 2013 – Soul II Soul – LONDON KOKO

Tickets are set to go on sale this Friday (16th August) at 9am from SeeTickets.

Giorgio Moroder premieres Donna Summer ‘Love To Love You Baby’ remix

Giorgio Moroder, the much-heralded producer of some of the finest cuts during the 1970s disco era, has unveiled his remix of Donna Summer’s Love To Love You Baby.

The remix of the track, originally produced by Moroder in 1975, received its first airing at Sweden’s ‘Way Out West’ Festival in Gothenburg on Friday, and was quickly captured by an eager attendee.

Moroder has recently returned to the spotlight as one of the producers on Daft Punk’s latest worldwide smash LP Random Access Memories; to hear a 73 year-old still creating absorbing beats really is encouraging.

A snippet of Lady Gaga’s forthcoming release Applause has leaked online. The 13-second teaser comes 10 days prior to the official single’s premiere on August 19th.

Applause is the lead single taken from Gaga’s forthcoming anticipated LP ARTPop, expected November 11th.

Further to the teaser trailer revealed yesterday, US popstar Katy Perry has unveiled her new single Roar.

Sounding fairly bubblegum pop, the track will no-doubt do well Stateside; take a listen below though and let us know your thoughts.

Roar is taken from Perry’s forthcoming new album Prism, expected later this year, and can be preordered here.

Rizzle Kicks preview new album ‘Roaring 20s’

In anticipation for the release of their forthcoming album Roaring 20s, UK duo Rizzle Kicks have unveiled 90 second clips of every track included in the LP.

The album, the follow-up to 2011’s smash debut Stereotypical, sees a stronger maturity from the London-hailing band, yet still retaining that element of fun that made us all pick up and take note in the first place.

Official Homeland Season 3 trailer airs

Further to the spoiler revealed several weeks back, US broadcaster Showtime has unveiled the official season 3 trailer to thriller series Homeland.

The trailer for the eagerly-anticipated series confirms the return of many of the original characters, including Carrie (Claire Danes), Sgt Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin).

Season 3 of Homeland starts again on UK shores on 30th September. Watch the official trailer here:

In preparation for the re-rerelase of her album Halcyon Days, Ellie Goulding has unveiled one of the newly-included tracks, Midas Touch.

The cover, a reworking of Midnight Star’s 80’s classic takes a completely different turn from the artist’s last effort, Burn, and is pure Goulding. Laidback, trap and simply divine, Midas Touch brings elements of The Weeknd to the singer’s sultry vocal abilities.

Yep, you read that right. First Lady Michelle Obama has announced her intention to release a hiphop album later this year, inspired by her association with the Let’s Move charity.

The charity aligns child obesity with entertainment to drive awareness of the epidemic of overweight children throughout the US, and to encourage healthy lives.

The album is set to feature a plethora of music stars, including Travis Barker, Ashanti and Jordin Sparks.

US pop sensation Katy Perry has unveiled a preview video to the forthcoming release of her new single Roar.

Set in a similar tone to Justin Timberlake’s infamous ‘I’m Ready’ clip, the snippet sees Perry en route to a studio before unleashing a few seconds of the single’s vocals.
