In preparation for the re-rerelase of her album Halcyon Days, Ellie Goulding has unveiled one of the newly-included tracks, Midas Touch.
The cover, a reworking of Midnight Star’s 80’s classic takes a completely different turn from the artist’s last effort, Burn, and is pure Goulding. Laidback, trap and simply divine, Midas Touch brings elements of The Weeknd to the singer’s sultry vocal abilities.

As someone who grew up listening to Midnight Star this is just too different. The original makes you want to get up and move. This cover made me get up but only to turn it off. Goulding fans will probably love this. Old school 80’s fans, most likely, will not.
