Katy Perry performs ‘Roar’ & ‘Walking On Air’ live on Saturday Night Live

Katy Perry took to US TV show SNL (Saturday Night Live) last night, performing live her new single Walking On Air along with previous chart-topper Roar, both taken from the singer’s forthcoming new album Prism.

Earlier this year, the singer said that she was a huge fan of 1990s dance music, with the likes of C+C Music Factory, Black Box, LaTour and Snap having been influences during the creation of Prism. Walking on Air shows that influence clearly; check out the full performance below of both tracks:

Dev Hynes unveils ‘Hurt U’ Babyface & Toni Braxton cover, ft Samantha Urbani

Producer & singer-songwriter Dev Hynes has unveiled his cover of Babyface and Toni Braxton’s new collaborative single Hurt U.

The track, originally unveiled in August, received its video premiere on Friday; Hynes’ wonderful cover adds vocals from Friends vocalist Samantha Urbani on a beautiful twist of the original.

James Arthur performs ‘You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You’ live on Jonathan Ross



X Factor winner James Arthur took to ITV’s Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday evening, to perform his debut single You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You.

The track, Arthur’s first since his X Factor release track Impossible, is taken from the singer’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for a 4th November release date. The anticipated 13-track LP features production credits from Naughty Boy and Salaam Remi, along with a duet with Emeli Sandé, who co-wrote track Roses.

Gary Barlow confirms X Factor resignation live on-air

**UPDATED STATEMENT BELOW**

X Factor judge Gary Barlow has surprised fans by confirming his resignation from the show live on air.

Whilst critiquing contestants Rough Copy, the Take That star said “I’ve been here for three years and I’m so glad that for my last year on the show I get to mentor you guys”, to which he was met by gasps from the crowd.

Barlow’s intention to leave comes as no surprise, as the star concentrates to go back in the studio with the rest of the Take That members for a new album, along with his own tour next year too. However, with this also being Louis Walsh’s final year, along with Sharon Osbourne, it leaves room for a massive shake-up of the hit ITV series.

UPDATE: In a statement, Gary Barlow has announced “I’ve had an amazing time on X Factor these past 3 years. A show like this needs to stay fresh and exciting so it’s a great opportunity for someone to come in and take the show past its incredible ten year anniversary. Next year is a very busy year for me & X Factor is a full time job so it felt like the right time to hand over the baton.”

Martin appears onstage during Jay Z’s performance of Ain’t No Love (In The Heart Of The City) at the rapper’s Magna Carta World Tour, whilst Timbaland is playing support in his first major UK slot in years.

Will.I.Am spills beans on new Britney Spears album

Will.I.Am took to US entertainment property E! News last week, revealing further glimpses of Britney Spears’ forthcoming new album.

Will, who served as executive producer on the new album, concluded that “There’s a lot of personal, sultry songs, as well as grit and edge and oomph.”

Regarding the time the two hitmakers spent together in the studio, the Black Eyed Peas frontman added “I’m really really proud of her and her dedication and how disciplined and focused she was in the studio…. and how passionate she is to win.”

It’s set to be a busy fourth quarter for Spears, whom not only has her as-yet-untitled new album due out (in December), but is also set to start her residency at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand resort. “I can’t wait for her Vegas shows to open”, said Will.I.Am, when speaking about the sell-out concerts, “I want to go there and support, perform with her…..This record, in my opinion, is going to be one of her best records.”

Spears recently unveiled the official video to the album’s lead single Work Bitch. Check out the full visual below:

Dutch house producer Afrojack has premiered the official video to his new single The Spark, featuring new vocalist Spree Wilson.

The track follows the EDM producer’s previous February 2013-track As Your Friend, featuring Chris Brown, however it is not known whether the new track will feature on a specific Afrojack EP or studio LP.

The documentary covers one of the world’s biggest festivals, the Made In America project curated by Jay Z himself. Premiered on US TV station Showtime last night, check out the full 90-minute feature below, featuring appearances by Odd Future, Run DMC, Beyonce and Rita Ora, plus many many more.

Nile Rodgers confirms further Chic & David Guetta collaborations

Legendary Chic guitarist and all-round Godfather of Disco has confirmed that he has collaborated with David Guetta on more new music.

Taking to Twitter mere moments ago, Rodgers announced that he was back working with the famed EDM producer with his backing band Chic, after originally announcing their hook-up in May this year.

In a following tweet, the star also confirmed that the track will feature ‘live’ Chic vocals too.

We can’t wait to hear the fruits of this labour; we’ll of course be there to break the track as and when it happenes.
