Having spent the past decade jumping on other artists’ songs (Lizzo, Kelly Rowland, Ariana Grande to name but a few), alongside the odd release of her own material, it’s been 14 years since Missy Elliott last graced us a full-length project.
2005’s ‘The Cookbook’ saw Missy at her finest, with features from Pharrell, Ciara and long-time collaborator Timbaland, but today, after what seems like a far-overdue hiatus, Elliott is back with her latest work.
Surprising fans (and the music world) last Thursday, Missy shared her 5-tracker ‘Iconology’ EP. In announcing the project, which hears production from herself alongside Timbaland and Wili Hendrix, Elliott proclaimed “Let’s #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance”.
