Maribou State have shared their surprise cover of Dusty Springfield’s iconic ‘Spooky’.
Falling part of the duo’s recently-released Spotify Singles double-tracker, and featuring vocals courtesy of frequent-collaborator Holly Walker, the Hertfordshire-raised collective turn Springfield’s 1968 original on its head – full of colour and intrigue, the edit concludes with a killer (yet airy) breakdown around the 2:30-mark.
As with a vast majority of Maribou State’s work, this is a completely slick attempt – it sounds so fresh, whilst also keeping the essence of Dusty’s original close to the forefront.
