Emily Eavis has shared further teasers to what’s in store when Glastonbury returns in 2019.
Speaking to Matt Wilkinson on Apple’s Beats 1, Eavis discussed Stormzy’s appointment as Friday night headliner, saying she was responsible with the booking after being blown away by his Other Stage appearance in 2017. “I totally believe he can do it. We as Glastonbury need to create headliners, and at this point, Stormzy is the perfect person to do that. We can’t always go over the same ground… it feels really exciting”
In terms of other performers, Emily said “We’re probably about 90% complete with our bookings” before teasing there will be “one more announcement before Christmas”
In the same interview, Wilkinson posed the question of Matty Healy’s desire for The 1975 to headline in 2020. Last week, Healy told the Beats 1 host that he will himself be in attendance that year. “I’ll be at Glastonbury. Whether we headline it or not, who knows?”. Emily responded “they’re great. Obviously. We would love to have The 1975”.
