Dua Lipa is the UK’s most-streamed female artist of 2018, following the publication of streaming figures from Apple Music and Spotify.
‘One Kiss’, her summer hit with Calvin Harris, was the year’s second most-streamed track of the year, pipped by Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’. Meanwhile her self-titled debut album was the third most-streamed record in the UK – fourth globally, on Spotify.
‘God’s Plan’, plus his fifth album ‘Scorpion’, helped Drake become the most-streamed male, clocking up 8.2 billion streams on Spotify (Apple do not disclose their streaming numbers).
Ed Sheeran, who reigned supreme in 2017, dropped to fifth place this year (a strong feat seeing as he didn’t release any new material). Globally, Ariana Grande was the most popular female artist, whilst George Ezra’s recent ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ was the fifth most-streamed record globally and on home turf.
