Peggy Gou’s anthem ‘It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)‘, released back in January, has been a staple on dancefloors around the world in 2018. And now, to close out a stellar year, Peggy has dropped an epic remix EP of the song, which has itself been shortlisted for Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record of 2018” on BBC Radio 1.
The package, which you can listen to below, hears Jamal Moss, I:Cube and Jay Daniel jump on various reworks of the songs, with outstanding results. Moss (aka Hieroglyphic Being) draws on the deep musical heritage of his hometown Chicago: house, EBM, Industrial, Avant-Jazz and Noise, with stunning results. The highly respected Frenchman I:Cube (Versatile) whose sleek production has consistently inspired Peggy crafts a spacey, perfectly weighted remix and a mutant dub, whilst Detroit resident Jay Daniel (Watusi High, Technicolour, Sound Signature, Wild Oats) deconstructs the groove to create a sublime sparse, broken funk track.
“It’s really exciting for me to have these three producers reinterpreting Itgehane” says Peggy. “The reaction I have received to the song has been such a wonderful surprise, and it’s a huge privilege to see it now being reworked by three artists whose music I am a great admirer of. I love how different each interpretation is, and having two mixes by I:Cube is a particular pleasure as I have been such a fan of his for so long.”
